Book Description

January 24, 2012 Chasing Evil Trilogy
The writer becomes the story when crime reporter Mia Hale is discovered on a Jacksonville beach—bloodied and disoriented, but alive. She remembers nothing, but her wounds bear the signature of a sadistic serial killer. After years lying dormant, The Collector has resumed his grim hobby: abducting women and taking gruesome souvenirs before dumping their bodies. But none of his victims has ever escaped—and he wants Mia back, more than he ever wanted any of the others.

FBI agent Eric MacFarlane has pursued The Collector for a long time. The case runs deep in his veins, bordering on obsession…and Mia holds the key. She'll risk everything to recover her memory and bring the madman to justice, and Eric swears to protect this fierce, fragile survivor. But The Collector will not be denied. In his mind, he knows just how their story ends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Leslie Tentler Has Done it Again!! January 27, 2012
By Misty
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Move over Lisa Jackson, Romantic Suspense has found its new voice! In a spine tingling conclusion to her Chasing Evil trilogy Leslie Tentler takes readers on a rollercoaster ride that begins in the first sentence and ends with the very last page.
When reporter Mia Hale turns up bloody and disoriented on a Florida beach, the puzzle pieces begin to lock into place for FBI agent Eric McFarlane who has been called down to Florida to work a murder case that has the ear marks of a case that he has been chasing for years.
He is called "The Collector" for his habit of claiming souvenirs from his victims. Following a three year break it appears that the Collector has resurfaced along the banks of the Jacksonville Beach. For McFarlane catching this sadistic madman is personal.
Mia remembers nothing of her ordeal, but agrees to help McFarlane buy taking part in an experimental hypnotism project in an attempt to regain those lost memories. With a growing attraction between Hale and McFarlane the suspense becomes that much more intense as they battle a ticking clock before this madman can collect anymore victims.
Ms. Tentler creates the perfect mix of suspense and romance in this well rounded mystery. With her strong writing style this author kept me turning pages for hours. I will say that this book is a lot more graphic than the previous two but, it does not detract from the enjoyment. If you love a little spine tingle with your romance then this is a book for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars exciting romantic suspense January 24, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
FBI agent Eric Macfarlane unofficially hunts the Collector serial killer haunting Florida. His thirst to end this predator's killing spree is personal as the Collector murdered his wife.

On a Jacksonville Beach, a bloodied, confused female is found. Crime reporter Mia Hale is the first person to survive the Collector's lethal assault. However, she remembers nothing about the psychopath who drugged and tortured her before leaving her "dead" on the beach. Eric persuades his leadership to allow him to investigate and keep the witness safe. As the serial killer adds to his deadly count, he targets the survivor and taunts her protector with reminders how Eric failed to keep his spouse safe.

The latest FBI Chasing Evil romantic suspense is an exciting thriller starring a diabolically clever but deranged villain, an emotionally damaged Fed and a crime reporter who has become the story. Although the plot has been done before including in this series (see Midnight Fear and Midnight Caller), the killer brings the freshness as readers meet this maniac up front and in person. Fans will enjoy his chess game against Eric, as the hunted and the hunter vie for the queen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful, well-written with a hero to die for January 23, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
When newspaper crime reporter Mia Hale is found on a Jacksonville beach disoriented and injured, pieces of a gruesome puzzle begin to fall into place for FBI agent Eric McFarlane. He's been called down from Washington D.C. to investigate because a series of brutal murders appear to be the work of a killer now resurfaced in Florida.

Called The Collector because of his habit of taking gruesome souvenirs from his victims, the sadistic madman has apparently resumed his practice after a three-year hiatus, and McFarlane wants to bring him to justice. His pursuit is personal: one of the murdered women was his wife Rebecca.

Mia remembers nothing of her ordeal, thanks to a drug cocktail injected by the killer, but she wants to help McFarlane and agrees to submit to a possible memory enhancing experiment that may make her recall details about her ordeal. A growing attraction between Mia and Eric heightens the suspense because the killer wants both Mia and McFarlane.

Ms. Tentler had me spellbound with this well-crafted suspense. Strong writing and exceptional pacing made it a book I could not put down. Both protagonists are flawed but likable people. That Mia could rise so well above her background attests to Tentler's ability to make the reader empathize with the character. Mia came across as completely believable, and her romance with Eric set the right tone.

This is my first Tentler book, but she's now on my TBR list.
