In the past couple of years I have had the opportunity to use and test 3 programmer units: The Bully Dog III, The Super Chips Cortex 2950 w/ GM programming, and this Edge 85250 Programmer.

1: By far, the Edge CTS that I have purchased from Amazon(the CTS is the touch screen model, but both the CT & the CTS do the exact same job)has the best screen. IF you plan to use this on a continuous basis to monitor your engine and yourself (your driving habits & performance?) then this screeen just might be worth the extra $200 you are going to have to pay above the cost of the other units. (You can read my evaluations on each of the others here on Amazon too.)

2: In the end, on all three units, for most applications to the Chevy engines(specifically, the 5.3L & the 6.0 L gas), the only program you will end up using is the one, single, High Performance Program settings. There is so little difference between any of their "Brand Specific Built in HP Programs" that no matter which Brand you buy, you will NOT be able to tell the difference between them.

3: With that being true above: there may be "some" diffence, but it is so slight, so little, that you will not detect any difference in mileage, power output, nor normal driving/OPS transmition functions. That does make sense too. There is only one goal in mind for each of those nice folks writing the program software: It must drive well, show some power improvement, and still be economical. (NOTE: I am NOT race inclined nor interested so that wasn't the focus of any of my applications and use.

Edge Product "CTS Evolution Gas" is fantastic. I noticed on my 2005 GMC Sierra 3500 6.0ltr I get better milage now on the performance mode (Level 4) than before. The throttle response is unreal, and the car floats at idle. The Edge Products customer Support is the best I have seen on any device, gadget for home, vehicle or any use including personal computers or softwares. They were quick to update for me a program specific for my truck program that was a mess prior to getting the Edge CTS ("unrecognized tuning").
Thank you for a wonderful product and wonderful customer (technical) support Edge Products.

I had been wanting this for a LONG time, I had read and re read the reviews over and over, and checked the other sites to see what was being said about this product. Initially I wanted the edge controller with the lcd screen, but then I read about the Evo CTS Programmer and the LED screen and instantly wanted this one. I let myself use some of my tax returns for this and was not disappointed.
There is certainly a power improvement, and a NOTICEABLE tightness to your shifts. I run this on the tow setting on my 04 F150 XLT with 4.6 V8 and get much more power than stock. The gas pedal has a significant touch to it when the CTS is active. Without it, the accelerator feels a little spongy and lacking in power, or like it's remembering that there's a V8 in there after you punch it. With the CTS, power is immediately available. I will say if you run this on the tow or any other package, upgrade your serpentine belt right away, check out the gator belts. On WOT you'll hear the belt slip during gear shift change.
More on the programmer itself.
The screen is bright, and has a dimmer automatically but this is able to be turned off if you like your screens bright all the time. All the dials can be changed for a myriad of readouts. I generally set mine to my avg mpg, air intake temp, among spark advance and gear position. This has logs for 1/4 mile times, 0 to 60, and many more. This will give you error codes so that you can look them up without having to take it to diagnostics at a shop. This will also clear codes if you need it too.
There are honestly many options on this thing and too many to list here.
I will say through experience HEED MY WARNING!!!!!
IF for whatever reason you take your vehicle to be serviced by ANY mechanic, MAKE SURE, that you set your EMS back to stock.

I am very sceptic about these products and how they can improve what you already have, but I am totaly convinced that this programer is worth every penny I paid for it. I recently hauled 2000 pounds on a single axel trailer in the tow mode and AVERAGED 12.3 miles per gallon. I am sure the diesel guys wont find that impressive, but for a guy that has a 2001 chevy silverado 4wd with 204560 miles on it I was blown away. The extreme mode on the programer is also alot of fun when you are buzzing around town or off road.

After initially installing my CTS 85250, my 2012 F-150 Ecoboost wouldn't start. Called Edge, and they flashed my programmer with the stock files through their fusion software. My truck started right up. Programed my truck to level 1, and noticed a "clicking" sound from the engine....was not knocking. Called Edge who had me try a couple other programs they had me download, still had the clicking sound. Edge then had me transfer my programmer files to them through the fusion software, then sent everything to their engineering department. About two week after that, I called Edge and was told that engineering had just completed a new program for the Ecoboost, and that I could download from fusion. Downloaded the new program, programmed my truck, works great! Despite these issues, I would still recommend the CTS for the Ecoboost. The power gain is amazing! Edge customer service is excellent and solved my problem in what I thought was a timely manner.
