Editorial Reviews

Shawn Pittman's Delta Groove debut showcases a rising star at the peak of his powers. Edge Of The World marks his 10th release and contains an inspired program of original material by an accomplished singer, songwriter and guitarist, recalling all the vintage tones and ambiance of the great blues recordings of the 1950's & '60's. Even more astonishing is the fact that Shawn plays virtually every instrument on the CD, handling everything from vocals and guitar, to bass, drums and piano, on top of doubling as the album's producer and engineer! Jonathan Doyle represents the album's only other personnel by contributing tenor & baritone saxophone on 4 songs.

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT HIS BEST September 8, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I am a PITTMAN fan and have all his releases.......without fail they are awesome blues cd's......this one is not up to his usual mentioned in the artwork, he had to deal with budget constrains throughout this recording and it shows......PITTMAN is a great guitarist and very good vocalist....he is also good on bass and keys ( he played everything but the SAX on this release ) but a drummer he ain't and therein lies one of the major problems......the drumming is dreadful and detracts hugely from the sound.....there are still some good tracks on this cd, but the drumming drags the whole sound down....PITTMAN is one of the major talents amongst the current crop of blues guitarists and it is a pity that budgetary constrains compromise this recording......with a first class drummer this would have been another excellent PITTMAN cd

5.0 out of 5 stars terrific recording March 24, 2014

A fine cd that's Shawn's latest. It's basically Texas-style Blues and the playing is good and I like the songwriting and the overall sound of the recording. If you are a fan of Texas Blues, you'll dig this recording.

5.0 out of 5 stars Edge of the World Review December 9, 2011
Format:Audio CD
This thing just smells of small town Texas. I mean this thing oozes the blues. I am listening to Shawn's work for the first time but I really like it. Now when I say it oozes Texas I don't mean it's a SRV copy or Johnny Winter comparison...not even T-Bone Walker. It sounds like itself and that's the best thing I can say about an album. Now there's a riff in there that Elmore James made popular but you know...everyone has played it... it's a part of the blues but this guy just plays the blues like he feels it and he sings it like a road man. This is one you gotta check out! Gimme More!
