amazing compilation of a great era in music,
By A Customer
This review is from: On the Edge (Audio CD)
This CD puts together great tracks from a time when alternative music was really that. I was very happy to see so many of my favorite(and hard to find) songs on one album. This will definitly become one of the CD's that I can't live without.

Sadly, out of print,

The one disc compilation is outstanding. As an earlier review stated, the 2 CD set is more of the same great music. If you are lucky enough to find the two disc version, hang on to it. It's beyond rare. Contacted Razor and Tie; their clerk/worker-bee did not know of any plans of a re-release of this great 80's music. Perhaps it would be worth organizing a write-in campaign to encourage another production run.

Me again, I've had this CD for a few months now and it's still a favorite! It brings back so many warm and fuzzy memories. Enjoy.

Song Change on My CD,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: On the Edge (Audio CD)
There's a song change on my copy of "On the Edge." Song #10 is a different Pretenders song, it's "I'll Stand by You" instead of "Don't Get Me Wrong."

I Want to Get This!!!!!!!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: On the Edge (Audio CD)
I want to get this CD! If I ever see it at a used CD store, I'm going to get it! I was introduced to alternative music by The Cure (They're not on here). This is probably the best CD to introduce you into alternative music!

Two or three great songs that you don't hear too much (Pixies, Rembrandts), but some of the other selections have already been beat to death by radio.

Be aware of something,
By A Customer
This review is from: On the Edge (Audio CD)
First, let me say that this is an excellent CD. For that, it gets five stars.HOWEVER, be aware that there were two versions of this album: a single-disc version and a two-disc version. This is the single-disc version. The expanded version is, as you might imagine, twice as good as this one. But since they're both out of print, you better grab this one while you can. With an album this good, I can't imagine why Razor & Tie allowed it to go out of print. I wrote to them and asked if they were going to sell it again, but they never replied. If you like it, I'd encourage you to contact them and ask that it be reissued, especially the two-disc version.

Great Songs from the Eighties,
By Jo "jocasta29" (New York, NY USA) - See all my reviews

It reminds of late nights with friends trying to tune the radio to the local college stations. We would listen to these songs in between the static. This is the best in what was called "Alternative/New Wave" music. Definitely a must have.

Warning: I was replacing a worn CD - I liked it so much. The new one is different and missing Joey by Concrete Blonde.???
