What an interesting release. Features great musicians from many bands from the 60's through the 90's. What an interesting release. Features great musicians from many bands from the 60's through the 90's. Glenn Tipton [Guitars/vocals], John Entwistle [Bass], and Cozy Powell [Drums] combine with a distinct sound on this release, which was actually recorded in 1996, when "Baptizm Under Fire" was released. The line-up was considered too old school by Atlantic records and went into the vaults until 2006. I only have one problem with this release and that is the vocals. Although, Glenn does an excellent job with backgrounds and some harmonies with Judas Priest, he is lacking here. This is actually a great piece of history, since we longer have Cozy or John to share their creativity and talent with us. This is a release more for a connosier than a buyer of the hits. There is no trademark single here, but the songs all showcase the talents of the trio and Don Airey even plays some keyboards. This will not be the shining jewel of your collection, but it is an amazing piece of Rock history. Look for this CD at an affordable price, because presently it is not difficult to find nor is it worth more than $10 to $12.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a real "SuperGroup" for Classic Heavy Metal Fans !, July 19, 2006

Glenn Tipton (Judas Priest)
Entwistle (The Who)
Cozy Powell (Whitesnake, Black Sabbath, Rainbow, etc etc...

The reason i bought this cd is because i am a Judas Priest fan and a lover of the Drums work of Powell...
I think this is a really cool album, 3 classic rock musicians with a little experimenting point of view...

The classic Heavy Metal magic is present with excelent and cool heavy riffs, along with Cozy's Powell Thunder Drums...
The best songs : The holy Man, and Resolution, just to bang your head !

As a Metal collector since childhood and a lead guitar player i recomend this for true fans of classic heavy metal...

4.0 out of 5 stars Too Late The Hero, May 17, 2009
This review is from: Edge of the World (Mcup) (Audio CD)
Recorded and then stuck in a vault for a decade, this side project by Judas Priest guitarist Glenn Tipton is pure old-school; a power trio with two rock legends, John Entwistle (b) and Cozy Powell (d), with material that finds each musician comfortably working within the pared-down format.

Tipton handles the vocals - there are 11 tracks - with Give Blood leading the way. Entwistle emerges from the mix to deliver a strong performance on Walls Cave In, while a snappy keyboard intro leads into the solid The Holy Man. A ballad - Searching - nearly steals the show and is a subtle artistic statement by Tipton.

That the tracks gathered dust says it all about a music industry that seemingly gets befuddled when "classic" rock stars don't rehash old material and then cannot be jammed into a tired FM format.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow..., March 7, 2007
This review is from: Edge of the World (Mcup) (Audio CD)
Ok, so i found both of Glenn's solo cds on bmg music, and said, screw it, if he is playing the guitar on any cd, i have to have it. so I bought them both. out of the two, Edge of the World is my favorite. excellent guitar and bass work, awesome vocals, just good songwriting. When i listened to the Baptizm of Fire cd, it seemed to me that he was kind of trying to do the whole death and doom metal vocals, with the growling and slight voice altering. even though, it has an awesome guitar intrumental song on there. all over awesome music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guitar Yes, Voice No, January 18, 2010

Glenn Tipton is easily one of the greatest metal guitar players/songwriters of the last 300 years. I've not heard a guitar player of his calabre since my formative years growing up in Botswana during the 15th century. My main qualm with this album is that he decided to plug in his guitar at the same time he plugged in a microphone. I guess the singer was ill the day they recorded each of the songs. Mr. Tipton's voice seems to alternate between sounding like he's trying to enjoy a steak while seated on a toilet and running on a treadmill. He shouldn't do both. I bet he's a really nice guy though so I'm recommending this cd to everyone.

I really like this album, I'll normally whisk threw a CD and hash out the songs that immediately grab me.
The song on this album is Resolution, it was cool the first time around, after tearing it apart several times over I'd have to say this song kicks major butt.
This is a solid release.

I wanted to love this CD. What a cool line up Tipton from Priest, Entwistle from The Who and Cozy Powell. I love the guitar sound and song structure, however I feel the vocals get lost in the mix and do not have much diversity (it is Tipton signing). If you are a die-hard fan of these guys you will like it. If you want Entwistle's bass playing buy "Who's Next", if you want Tipton's guitar by the new Priest "Angel of Retribution" if you love Cozy Powell pick up Black Sabbath's "Headless Cross". Enjoy.
