Randy Stonehill has returned to form (if he ever, indeed , lost it!) with his latest album "Edge of the World". Fans will recognise some elements of his stronger albums here ("Welcome to Paradise" and Wonderama") "We Were All So Young" is worth the cost of admission alone-a look back at the gospel music scene of the 70's-where he is joined by the likes of Larry Norman , Phil Keaggy , Barry McGuire , Love Song and Noel Paul Stookey.
In summary: melodic , thoughtful-a gorgeous production worth getting.

I was delighted when EDGE OF THE WORLD was released in 2002. Randy had issued his first (and so far only) children's CD the previous year, but it had been four LONG years since he had issued an adult.

Unfortunately, this album was poorly promoted and only one song made it to Christian charts ("That's the Way It Goes", hitting at least #21 (it may have gone higher, but I am unaware)). Radio missed a wonderful track in "Dare to Believe", a romp that more than competes with younger Christian musicians and could have easily topped the charts. Then there is "Hey, Pauline", a mother-song ode that chronicles his mother's life from before his birth to the present. It is easily the best folk song I have heard in years.

In addition to Randy's own talent this disc freatures his friends Mike Roe (77s/The Lost Dogs), Phil Keaggy, Sara Groves, and the lengendary Larry Norman.

Recorded to match the passion and intimacy of a live performance, EDGE OF THE WORLD will satsify fans as well as bring new listeners into the fold. If you missed it in 2002 don't delay in treating yourself with a copy.

If more stars were available, I'd use them. As one who got caught up in the Christian music scene in the late 70's/early 80's (when he price of admission to concerts was a free-will offering), and saw most of the artists on this recording live -- including Randy, Larry Norman, Annie Herring (2nd Chapter...), Phil Keaggy, Michael Roe (77s), Russ Taff and, more recently, Barry McGuire -- this is a very pleasant trip down memory lane.

Randy Stonehill does not pretend with these songs that nothing has changed, as some aging artists seem wont to do. Instead, he acknowledges the years with a sweet melancholy, while infusing the same hope that has always been present in his music. The collaborating artists give it a nostalgic air, but their talent far exceeds the nostalgia, making this CD well worth the price of admission.

The album is wonderful and well worth owning. Definitely hearkens back to earlier styles. Guitar is fabulous, and I've always enjoyed the voice and content. Spans the ages. Hope more is forthcoming in the not so distant future.

From the first track I felt at home. This reminded me of his earlier works. It's been a while since I felt so comfortable listening to an album from the beginning.
