Product Description

Store and cool your favorite red and white wine bottles with the EdgeStar 53 Bottle Built-In Wine Cooler (CWR531SZ). This wine cooler can hold up to 53 standard 750 ml wine bottles and can keep them at a temperature range from 40-65°F, which is great for storing both red and white wines. A stainless steel-trimmed dual paned tinted glass door with stainless steel venting grate allows this versatile wine cooler to be used as a built-in or freestanding unit for user convenience and adaptability. The tinted glass door also allows you to choose which of your wine bottles you would like to select before opening the door, keeping the cooled air inside of your cooler for increased energy efficiency. New carbon filters ensure that the air around your wines will be the best with its natural ventilation, which will allow your wines to breathe easy and prevent harmful particles from contaminating your wine while it ages. Inside of the cooler are six (6) wood trimmed shelves that are both durable and stylish, and they slide out easily for convenient access. The interior of the cooler can be illuminated with a soft blue LED light that allows you to conveniently see your bottles clearly without exposing them to too much exterior light. The temperature of the cooler can be controlled with built in electronic controls that also monitor the current temperature level and relay this information through a blue lit digital display that is mounted at the top of the cooler. This unit is also rubber brushed to combat vibrations that can disturb your wine and adversely affect the flavor over time. This stylish and feature-packed wine cooler is great for amateur and professional wine collectors and connoisseurs alike and is sure to look great wherever you store you wine. Dimensions: 33 1/2" H x 23 1/2" W x 22 1/2" D

Customer Reviews

Very nice looking, quiet, and durable.

Because the shelves can only be pulled out part way, it is difficult to access bottle when the unit is filled to capacity.

The fan is loud enough to hear and is annoying.

Though it looks good, the drawers that are represented to pull out, hardly pull out at all. Functionality is poor. I contacted the seller and he said. "We represent that the drawers pull out, but we didn't say how far". Buyer beware!!!! I built cabinetry to fit this and now I'm stuck with it. This is the risk of buying something on the internet. The LED lighting is way too bright as well.

I bought this unit to be installed in a kitchen island, new construction. Once it was installed I noticed that the fan cycles every 15 seconds. The fan is loud enough to hear and is annoying. So I call Edgstar and I'm told that that is the way it is supposed to sound. So I engage an online appliance site and they say it should operate like a refrigerator and only cycle to control the temperature. Edgestar won't address it and I'm stuck with a noisy wine cooler in my kitchen. My review is do not buy this cooler unless you are prepared to a fan noise cycle on and off . The look is very nice...the support and noisy are the worst I've encountered.

Box arrived and seemed perfect once really looking at the unit it was out of square. I had to remove the door and redrill the holes so air wouldn't leak. Now it works fine but the thermostat won't drop below 47 though its set at 44.

Purchased this wine refrigerator about 3 months ago for a new home we just moved into. I like everything about the unit EXCEPT that it is very annoying hearing the internal fan cycle on and off every 10 seconds. I contacted the Edgestar service department and the technician said that is normal. He also said a number of other customers have voiced the same complaint. We have one of the largest refrigerator/freezers and you can not hear it at all . Apparently I'm stuck with a product that will have to be thrown out as the functioning of this model (NORMAL--LOUD) in intolerable.

After reviewing so many wine coolers (hours!) here on Amazon, Costco, Wine Enthusiast, Home Depot, etc. I decided to give this one a try. It looks awsome in the kitchen; very nice looking unit. Unfortunately I put in a request to have it returned. Like others have stated the noise is very annoying. I try to igonore it but can't. We don't hear our dishwasher, we don't hear our refrigerator. But while laying in bed we hear our wine cooler compressor kick on. AND THEN the fan will cycle every 11 seconds. I timed it. The fan is not loud, but since it's near our dinner table you do notice it, and it is a distraction. And this will go on for minutes. I'm guessing there is a problem with a timing/thermocoupler with these units. My brother-in-law has a Marvel wine cooler (twice the price) and doesn't cycle like this one does. This unit is NOT for a kitchen, but better suited in a basement or garage. I will update this post to let other consumers know if they will honor their refund policy.

UPDATE: I did receive a return authorization. But the cost to send it back will be around $300, or half the cost of the unit itself. DO NOT BUY! Spend the extra dollars to buy a better brand or from someone local.

Purchased this unit in the fall of 2013. Read dozens of reviews and thought this was the wine cooler for us. Saw a few complaints about noise and thought they were from the overly "noise sensitive" crowd. Its not that the unit is loud, its that the fan unit cycles on and off every 5 to 10 seconds, and its very noticeable in a relatively quiet kitchen. Its like an intermittent water drip from a faucet. Once you notice it, it becomes oh so annoying. We contacted the manufacturer who said that this is normal. NO, this is not normal. They will do nothing about the problem. I have had refrigerators that hummed; furnaces that roar, but this is not reasonable to thrust on consumers.

Unfortunately, we also just installed this wine cooler. It's nice looking, holds a lot of bottles, but unfortunately, it does cycle on and off every 15 seconds. This is fine when there are other noises going on but when trying to have a quiet dinner it is very irritating. The fan is not super loud, it's just annoying and obvious to hear. When we called Edgestar, they told us it's normal. Also, it doesn't seem to actually hold the temperature that well. It's a rare moment when we see the two numbers aligned (the set and actual temperature), which is probably why the fan is going crazy trying to keep the temperatures consistent. If you want a good quality wine cooler that is not too noisy, I would spend the extra money and not get this one.

We are very disappointed in this wine cooler received yesterday. With the shelf coming out a third of the way you can not tell "see" the label of the wine you seek without limiting the storage capacity, and pulling out everyone until you do.

The customer service spin of how it is more safe is ridiculous. We had a GE for over 10 years and the shelves pulled 3/4 of the way out. Never had any incidents. Based upon what I was told it appears customer service has had more than a few conversations about this subject.
