This review is from: Edgy Not Antsy (Audio CD)
2002 saw the ful scale reunion of the beloved and much missed Camper Van Beethoven, and 2003 has found its members seemingly rejuvenated and peaking, with releases from members Victor Krummenacher and Jonathan Segel showing them in better form than ever. CVB's violinist and multi-instrumentalist Jonathan Segel has done his part with no less than four new records this year, and this, his best work since 1988's Storytelling, Edgy Not Antsy. Edgy Not Antsy is fifteen songs ranging from blissful pop tunes like Hey Joy and Mean, Mean Girls to more Eno-esque tunes with bits of electronica and multi-layered instrumentation. This is a tasty CD that gets better with repeated listening and is a must listen with headphones to appreciate all the layers. Edgy Not Ansty is one of those CDs that refuses to leave your player and with each new CD I buy this one keeps sneaking its way back in. Wonderful. MP3s and further info is available at Segel and CVB bassist Victor Krumennacher's site here: www.magneticmotorworks.com. My CD of the year so far.
