The EDICTS OF ASOKA, kept in stone in the Hindu Continent have longtanding validity. Although they have no longer the force of law, they serve as pillars for 21st century Legislation. The world is in need of governments in the material world which rely on spiritual principles. Of course separation between religion and state matters would be preserved. The edicts are more like Laws of Wisdom to be followed. they serve the purpose of embodying a trascendental body of wisdom which then Emperor Asoka applied in his kingdom. These edicts are worth studying not just for their worth as part of history but rather as a legacy to actual & future behavior.
