The design of the router is very stylish.

Like most dual-band routers, you get 2 SSIDs: one the 5Ghz network, and the other the 2.4 Ghz network.

The Edimax Dual-Band AC1200 Router is an excellent dual-band router to upgrade a wireless N router, to replace an existing dual-band router, to add an access point, or to act as a range extender.

The box comes with the router, power cord, CD for the manual, ethernet cable, rubber feet for the bottom of the router if placed on a table, and two screws if wall mounting the router, and a quick installation guide.

The LEDs and ports on the router are pretty standard. There’s 4 ethernet ports at the back, and one WAN port (to plug in your modem). LEDs include Power, Internet, 2.4GHz wireless, 5GHz wireless, WAN, and LAN 1-4. Buttons on the back also include a Radio on/off button (to quickly turn off the wireless signal of the router without affecting ethernet), and a WPS button.

Setup was extremely easy. After finding the “edimax.setup” SSID in my list of wireless networks, I was connected and automatically brought to the “Get Started” screen. Next, I was instructed to choose one of the three options for this router, that being Wi-Fi Router, Access Point, or Range Extender. For most people, Wi-Fi Router is what you will choose. For testing purposes, I went through all three setup processes, and I found all the methods to be equally as easy to navigate. However, I will continue the discussion for the “Wi-Fi Router” setup. The online setup next instructed me to connect the router to my modem with the supplied ethernet cable. Then, it tested the connection, and after confirming it was working, a screen came up which said “Internet is now connected. Please click “Next” to configure your wireless network.” From this page, I entered the information I wanted for the SSIDS for both the 2.

I upgraded to this from my trusty ole WRT54G. (from back in the day when Linksys was good and not just the Cisco junk they put out now) Installation was pretty simple. So far everything has been working well without any hiccups. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable AC1200 router.

I would say this router is awesome for the money, but in fact it's just awesome. The signal strength is about the same as the netgear Im replacing and the duel band feature rocks. All my older devices are on yhe 2.4 and my phones and laptop are on the 5. Ita all working brilliantly.

The setup was really easy. There was one thing. When configuring the internet during the initial setup it kept saying that my internet modem was unresponsive. I finally just continued past that step and ta da, everythibg was working.

The configuration web application is clean and nicely organized. I havent done anything advanced, buy I dont really need to.

If youre looking for a new ac router so you can get the most out of your ac devices.,. Look no further.

The antenna are not detachable as the description says, unless they mean you can break them off (unless I'm missing something they are not your standard screw on/off). Speeds are good as long as you are within range of both frequencies. My old router would need to be reset once every 3 days or so (for wireless connection) and it would make me irritated so I got this, this router keeps its wireless connection but the range fluctuates greatly and speed seems to dip down to about 1megabit when this happens, after resetting it, it will work for about 3 days before it needs to be reset again. When working correctly it isn't as good at distance but is better speed by about 30%-100% than my wireless N-300 TP-Link. All-in-all I wish I had not bought this router as there is rarely anything I do wirelessly that needs to be faster than 15megabits per second everything else is wired.

Mostly I need distance and reliability and this does neither.

Using as a range extender for our AC network. Super easy setup, and we're getting 80 Mbps throughput. Seems very stable. Highly recommended, even when compared with higher priced competitors!

I have had the Edimax Dual-Band AC1200 Router for about a week now and so far everything has gone extremely smoothly without any problems.

After unboxing, you will find the router, power cord, a CD to help with installation (but not required), an Ethernet cable, and rubber feet to attach to the bottom of the router, a couple screws if you want to wall mount it, and an installation guide.
The really nice this about this router is that not only will it replace (and upgrade) your old router, but it also can act as an access point and a range extender. It is very easy to flip between all the modes when needed.

The design of the router is very stylish. It has your normal ports – 4-1 Gb ethernet ports and one WAN port on the back. On the back it also has a radio on/off button and a WPS button. LED lights on the front are power, internet, 2.4GHz wireless, 5GHz wireless, WAN, and Lan 1-4. Basically everything you usually find in a router.

The one thing that sets this router apart from all other ones that I have used is the fact that once you plug everything in and find the “edimax.setup” SSID, when you open up your internet browser, you are immediately directed to the Edimax “get started” screen. This is different because usually I would have to plug in some IP address and it was a confusing mess. This eliminated all that hassle! Once connected, it will take you on a step by step journey to ensure that you are correctly connecting everything. I’m not a technology genius by any means and I was able to connect so that definitely says something about how easy it was!

This also gives a pretty good wireless signal. I live in an apartment complex and was more than 150 feet away from the router itself and was able to connect to my wifi without any problem.
