5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, January 9, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have been involved with conducting, managing, directing and studying intellectual assets management for four decades. It is a complex subject. The first "Edison in the Boardroom" of this series by Julie Davis and Suzanne Harrison did an excellent job of providing practitioners a workable set of guidelines to use.

This sequel by Suzanne Harrison and Patrick Sullivan now takes the original research and updates and expands upon it. Both updating and expansion are key to the books value. A lot has changed since the first book was written, and even more has been learned by the best-practice contributors to the book. The case study format provides a powerful way to understand how to best lead an IP, technical or business development organization. The insights gained by the reader will certainly allow him/her enhance their effectiveness and efficiency in leading their own organizations.

Paul Germeraad, President, Intellectual Assets, Inc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative, engaging and topical overview of IP management, January 20, 2012
Edison in the Boardroom [Revisited] provides an excellent introduction to IP management strategy, as well as a great overview of the evolution of the industry and current hot topics such as NPE's and IP damages. Harrison and Sullivan's explanation of the stages in the IP value hierarchy are well supported with examples and clear guidelines for best practices implementation. Detailed case studies such as the one on Procter & Gamble offer a great narrative and inside perspective on the recommendations set forth. Further, a concise framework is provided for IP managers at every level, on how to grow their IP assets and how to better align their IP strategy with their overall business strategy.

The result is a relevant and useful guide for anyone involved in IP management, but also an accessible and engaging read for those new to the field, or with just a general curiosity about the IP industry. Highly recommended!
