5.0 out of 5 stars Piaf and her sister, November 15, 2007

This review is from: Edith Piaf: 25 chansons (French Edition) (Paperback)
Initially, I found this book on a shelf in a rental apartment in Paris and couldn't put it down. I was lucky to have started with the hardback that had all the wonderful pictures. When I came home I purchased a used paperback, which does not have the pictures. Disappointment was brief because I was able to finish the biography. The writing seems to be a translation of the oral history by Simone Berteaut, so it's chatty and fast. Although written with love, the pathos of addiction and the pain of an artist's life comes through. I found a used hardcopy for my book collection so now I own the pictures, too!
