For me, an interesting story line and interesting development to each plot/character is what keeps me reading.
Like the first book, each chapter is dedicated to a character, and you follow along their different stories throughout the book.
It's the second book in George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series and picks up where A Game of Thrones left off.
