I don't have any confidence that these will hold up under weight.

As the title states, the frame is awesome. I was able to convert this from a UPS boxed item into a full shelving unit in about 10 minutes. The frame is extremely sturdy and there's plenty of storage space. My issue is with the shelves. They're made of particle board and started chipping from the get go, no matter how careful I was. I helped remedy this by cutting cardboard rectangles to fit over the particle board as protective cushions. The shelves also came warped. I don't expect them to last long, so I'll have to come up with a replacement soon. The frame is what makes this such a great deal. I used to work in retail and the frame is definitely professional grade. If they shipped these with plywood shelves, it would be an easy five star product.

I will admit, these (I bought 2) could be decent shelving units with a few modifications (which I'll have to do just to make them usable). 4000 lbs rating, 800 lb per shelf??? Not even close. I doubt each shelf can even hold 100 lbs. Particle board shelves are about 3/8" thick. If they were 5/8" or 3/4" I might believe 1/2 of the capacity rating. Also, the side supports bow outward, so if you push down on the shelf, it'll fall through. [Modification idea #1, screw shelf into supports to keep supports from being able to bow outward. Mod #2, replace shelves with thicker wood (3/4 MDF??).]

Also, I don't trust the top section. The corner up-rights are in 2 pieces. They are connected by putting the middle shelf supports half in the top hole of the bottom up-right and half in the bottom hole of the top upright. I thought they would be bolted together. I don't have any confidence that these will hold up under weight. Especially since the instructions tell you not to put heavy items on top. Why? Are they saying it really can't hold 800lbs per shelf?

I have 2 sets of these and they are a little annoying to assemble (like anything else) but are great. They are in our garage and store huge paint cans on the top shelf, grass seeds, fertilizers, gas, etc. I love having them and are going to purchase another. Walmart and Amazon seem to have the best price on these especially if you can get free shipping. I have always taken them home from the store and they are in a super duper heavy box. You will not be disappointed with these. I have had both sets for 2 years.

the item arrived a little damaged due to shipping, but that's expected. the unit weighs like 150lbs so the carboard box it comes in isn't really sufficient. but the unti went together nicely and easily with two people. you wont be able to do it by yourself unless you have four arms! great adjustable shelves to customize your needs.

I got 5 of these for my warehouse and I'm really pleased with them. The shelves are a bit thin but they can be replaced with a 3/4" press board. I set some of the up to allow for work stations and purchased melamine shelves at $11 (Home Depot) for the work space. I then doubled up on some of the shelves to make them stronger. Cannot beat this price!

Great shelves. I wish the actual shelves were thicker but so far they are loaded up fine and holding up great. I put them together by myself but it would have been much easier with 2 people. You will need a mallet but no other tools.
