Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Devising a general educational guide to the Internet that's still useful must be the Holy Grail of Internet book publishing. Because both teachers and students might initially be intimidated by the vastness of the Net, many Internet guides attempt to limit the scope of the subject and degenerate to basic computer instruction. Conversely, more advanced guides can become overawed collections of unrelated bookmarks. While Nancy Skomars hasn't quite nailed it down this time, Educating with the Internet is at least a good start on the quest for the perfect Internet guide.

Skomars errs a bit by providing too many bookmarks; however, her list of bookmarks is well organized around typical classroom subjects, such as math and literature. Within the list, she also intersperses some useful suggestions on how to use the Net to teach the subjects and how to prepare Net-friendly lesson plans. Educating with the Internet is highly successful as an idea book for teachers who don't know how to integrate the Internet into the classroom. Teachers who are already Net-savvy and students who are already connected and surfing will probably find this book to be too basic. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

This review is from: Educating with the Internet: Using Net Resources At School and Home. (Paperback)
I am really glad that I decided to purchase this book. It really helped me find the subject area that I was researching in a hurry. I looked up the subject in the book and found several sites to visit. I even found other sites of interest by browsing through the book. I feel that anyone that needs a book to help get started or just to get some neat sites should try this book. Thanks for the neat sites and for the wonderful resource.
