About the Author

Eileen L. Ordover is a Senior Attorney at the Center for Law and Education, where she has represented the rights of children and youth with disabilities in the courts and before state and federal legislative and administrative bodies since 1990. She has participated in major litigation, assisted in drafting critical legislation and regulations, provided technical assistance and training to attorneys, parents and other advocates, and advised attorneys nationwide on education issues affecting students with disabilities.

Her work over the years has included preparing, with her colleague Kathleen B. Boundy, the studentís brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in Florence Co. School District No. 4 v. Carter, co- authoring a legal background paper on standards-based education reform and students with disabilities for the National Academy of Sciences in connection with its 1997 book, Educating One and All, representing amici curiae supporting the student and preparing their brief to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Morgan v. Chris L., and authoring or co-authoring publications on a range of legal topics of interest to students with disabilities and their advocates, including discipline, rights to participate in high quality vocational education and school-to-work systems, inclusion rights of children whose behavior challenges schools, and the education rights of court-involved youth.
