Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Capsela 400-MX Trooper

Product Description

Your child will experiment with gears, speed transformation, torque, buoyancy, electricity, and much more with this intermediate Capsela construction set. This kit includes 48 interlocking parts including 6 see-through motor or transmission capsules. The activity booklet shows how to build 22 land and water motorized models including a car, robot, and speedboat. (Example projects are shown at right.) Two AA batteries required (not included). The Capsela motorized building system will fascinate kids with "hands-on" science concepts they'll use and observe. Instead of just reading about energy or forces, they can actually handle interlocking parts, create motors, and see for themselves how energy changes with the help of visible gears and wheels. No tools are required for assembly. Each kit in the Capsela line contains an easy-to-follow activity booklet introducing physical concepts such as energy changes, electric circuits, motion energy, friction and traction, buoyancy, and electric circuitry. Consistent with National Science Education standard. Recommended for ages 7 and up.

I purchased this as a birthday gift for my 11 year old grandson. I knew it would be a hit as my son had received it as a gift from his grandparents as a child and was entertained for hours with it. It did not lose it's charm for 11 year old boys through the years. My grandson was thrilled with it as well. Just enough challenge to keep their interest.

This review is from: Capsela 400 - MX Trooper (Toy)
I bought this toy for my 6-year old son as I had a Capsula set when I was his age. When we opened it up one of the capsule's was broken, not a big deal but then they didn't mate up tightly, the switch didn't always make good contact and the list goes on. I can honestly say that I would not buy another one of these to expand the set.

2.0 out of 5 stars Kid didn't like it, January 9, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Capsela 400 - MX Trooper (Toy)
The kid opened it, pulled everything out, was completely unimpressed, and never did play with it. This was a 9-year old boy who likes putting stuff together and likes science-kinda stuff, so he is the target audience for this toy.

If I had to guess, I would guess that the poor packaging put him off. It's very bland and boring and doesn't look like it would be fun at all, judging by the box. If it were colorful and had action and people pictures, and a fun set of directions, my guess would be that he would have been far more interested. As it was, though, nothing.

To be fair, my coworker recommended this as a gift item--he used to have one as a kid and loved playing with it. Different strokes, go figure.
