Sea-Monkeys Super Sleuth Set

I bought this for myself so that I could have a "pet" while stationed in Iraq. The first group of little guys last about 3 months before dying off. I then placed the container out of sight for the water to evaporate so I could start over as suggested by the instructions. Well I left on vacation for a month and when I came back there was about 2 inches of water left in the container and big lady swimming around. She had multiple sacks grow full of eggs but nothing else ever grew. She lived from Sept09-May10 before others finally hatched and she then eventually died shortly after. They are amazing little things to watch, especially when placed next to a window. I didn't really use the flash light thingy at all.

A bit of advice, do a little research on Sea Monkeys if you don't know what they are. When one of my guys sprouted sacks I was shocked until I found out it was a female. Once grown they are easily identifiable. The males have what looks like a mustache.

Overall I enjoyed have the critters to keep me "company," the guys I worked with got a kick out of them as well.

I got it for my daughter whos 5yrs old. It took me back in time when i was a kid. Follow the directions carefully and they will hatch in about 5-7 days (depending on room temp) time in north window. I always add a water pureifier for any water from anywhere (this may be why others complain about sea monkey products similiar to this because they forget water contains many harmful things) using the "safe water purifier & slime protectant for fresh water fish" aquaruims in yellow bottle from tetra-minn, that removes many harmful chemicals including chlorine with adding about 3-5 drops 24 hrs before you put in monkey eggs and can be found at any stores for under $5. Great product as to the instructions, eggs, food, tank & lid! The removable light needs a little help due to it turns by itself and stays on and the figure/floor are suppose to collect light and glow in dark, but it somewhat works to a point for about 30 sec. No major concerns about this and other than that its a great product, Thank you!

The sea monkeys did not "instantly" hatch as the package & directions indicated. We waited 2 days & then gave up on them. However, we did not dump the water, and about a week later, we finally noticed sea monkeys swimming around.
Since that time, we have continued to follow package directions, and the sea monkeys have grown & done great. My kids have really enjoyed them!

My daughter and I tried this product on two different occasions and it never worked.
