5.0 out of 5 stars Tactile Fun!!!
My son and I just bought PlayFoam at Lakeshore Learning Store. He's gone to bed now, and I'm still playing with it- it really feels neat! Imagine when you're making rice crispies treats- the consistency when you press the stuff into the pan- that's what PlayFoam reminds me of- only NOT STICKY!!! We bought a SAMPLE (forty-nine cents) at the checkout, and I could...

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than Play Doh, kind of
This does everything the decription claims -- doesn't stick to clothing or skin, doesn't dry out, can be used over and over. HOWEVER, no four year old that I know was able to resist the temptation to mush all the beads together, creating a rainbow blob out of every color in the box. There is no way to separate it, and just like Play Doh, once you mix the colors, it's...

We bought a SAMPLE (forty-nine cents) at the checkout, and I could actually let my four-year-old play with it in his car seat! I can't think of any other similar product I'd do that with!

Speaking of other products, I'd like to warn you off of Floam. We tried it- it smelled funny, it was too sticky/goopy, and in our experience the goop was a pretty good medium for growing mold. Yuck! Play Foam seems much cleaner- I'll update this review if we encounter problems down the road with it, but right now we LOVE IT!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This stuff is amazing!, November 11, 2006

This truly doesn't dry out, stink or stick to things you don't want it too! Much better than other foam bead modeling stuff we've had! If the kids mix the colors, you get a cool rainbow clump of play foam, rather than a lump of brown like you'd get with play dough or other foamy modeling compound. I think it is great! I have some for my own kids and my preschool students!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Easter Gift!!!!!!!!!!!!, March 6, 2007
This review is from: Educational Insights Playfoam (Toy)
This is a great product as long as your child will not put it in their mouth. It is a choking hazard. That said, it does not stick to anything even the carpet. If your kids can keep the colors separate it will work even better. But like playdough once the colors combined you have a multicolored ball that you cannot separate. Unlike play dough though it never hardens. I have a clump of foam just sitting on my coffee table waiting for my son to finish what he started when he comes home from school. I find that if you make little skinny peices, like a snake, you can bend them into letters and numbers. Which turned out to be good practice. My 4 yr old made his name. My five year old makes space ships and flies them around. We also play guess that shape with it.
And like another reviewer said, this product is great for long car rides and for when they are waiting in a restaurant for their food. This year all the kids in the family will be getting this product for Easter.

HOWEVER, no four year old that I know was able to resist the temptation to mush all the beads together, creating a rainbow blob out of every color in the box. There is no way to separate it, and just like Play Doh, once you mix the colors, it's no longer as much fun because you cannot make shapes out of different colors. This is basically what my two youngsters did upon my opening the box for them. The foam is very interesting in that it molds easily, is fun to work with and can be shaped into just about anything. Kids will enjoy this and you won't have a sticky mess after play time is over. I'd only recommend it for children over 5 or 6 because they won't be as tempted to clumpt the 6 colors together.

2.0 out of 5 stars Does it all but Hold Together!, December 2, 2008

The product does everything it says= it retains its stickiness without sticking to things you don't want it to (your clothes, your floor, your furniture) but it's sort of like Post-It notes in that it sticks just BARELY. My son (4.5 yr old) and I have tried to make many shapes including just a simple roll and PlayFoam won't hold its shape. It falls, deflates, and pulls apart to easily. So, the only thing you really CAN do with it is squish and smash it. My son played with it a couple times before moving on to Moon Sand (much to my chagrin because Moon Sand is REALLY messy but he loves it way better than PlayFoam probably for that very reason)!

4.0 out of 5 stars WELL worth the money!, April 13, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This stuff is amazing.
It's as advertised and what a price! You get 10 times as much of this stuff as you do ONE tub of floam for about the same price. I will NEVER buy floam again! I would buy more of this stuff and give it as gifts!
Even older kids grab this stuff and start sculpting away.
It claims to never dry out. We've had it for about 2-3 weeks now and it isn't any different than the day it came from Amazon. Shipping was only a few days, even at standard price. We have really enjoyed this product.
Drawbacks? You can't quite make a 'detailed' sculpture' with it.. The texture is kind of like rice crispie treats.. the colors will eventually end up mixed, no matter how hard you try. Although if you wanted to give your teenager a challenge, have them separate the colours, it can be done.. !!
I would highly recommend this product. Even kids with sensory issues may be able to handle this. You can't beat the price, buy a few sets and give it as gifts. It will be a favourite. It doesn't stick to anything but itself! No stains, no mess! No real clean up!
Two thumbs up!

My 2 1/2 daughter loves this stuff. We use it when we go out to eat and keep her quiet until the food comes. We've also used it in church. Non-stick quality is great, particularly for car trips or in carpeted areas.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for all ages, October 17, 2007

I had purchased this product for my 7-year old Granddaughter who had wanted "Floam" for her Birthday. My Son, 8 yrs, had some Floam and the consistency was such that we couldn't do anything with it. It got set aside and when my Granddaughter found it and wanted to play, it was a moldy, nasty mess. I looked for the Floam, read other reviews and purchased the PlayFoam instead. Right out of the box it was a hit! The kids, ages 3-9, sit around the table and play with it. There is quite a bit in the box, so plenty to go around. I'm going to buy more for Christmas!

4.0 out of 5 stars better than floam, playdoh, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Educational Insights Playfoam (Toy)
Play foam is much better than floam. There's no mess, easy clean up. The only problem is that the packaging says that you can combine the different colors...if you do, it's pretty much like play-doh...you can't separate them. Overall, great product!

This was fun for the kids, although they tired of it quickly. No bad scent, sticks pretty good - stays together enough to hold a shape, although I wish it were a bit stickier. Not messy.
