I spotted this game in a parenting magazine just before Christmas; it had won a coveted spot on their best toys of the year list. I'm always on the lookout for innovative games that our kids, ages 3 and 4, can play with us, so I decided to give Bunny Hop a try. I was not disappointed!
The game is suited for 2-4 players. I was thrilled that my 3-year-old son could play independently, giving him a confidence boost. (Many games that are marketed to preschoolers still require adult assistance, which frustrates them after a while, especially when older siblings can play independently.) The game begins with all of the bunnies in the patch, and every player chooses a color (blue, red, yellow, green). After rolling a cube, a player chooses a matching colored bunny and pushes it down into the patch. Then the player pushes a farmer, and if the bunny hops out of the patch, the player gets to keep it. (3 bunnies will hop; 2 will not -- of the same color) The first player to get a bunny of all 4 colors wins! The process is simple and there aren't any real educational benefits as far as I'm concerned, but this is a wonderful game for building in a few moments of family time. The entire game is pretty short, so you can pull it out in a pinch. We love the game and consider this a marvelous investment!

As a mother of an active 3.5 year old, I too am always on the look-out for fun, educational games. "Bunny Hop" is definitely one of those games that engages young children, and best of all they are able to play by themselves [once they get the hang of the game]. No reading skills are required here, just a knowledge of colors [here, the colors used are red, green, yellow and blue].
Each player chooses a color, and then rolls the die - depending on which color comes up, the player then chooses the bunny that has the same color [as reflected on the die] and pushes it into the carrot patch. if the bunny hops [some hop, and some don't], then the player gets to keep the bunny. Though the game can have a few variations [and we even came up with our own rules], the one who gets bunnies in all 4 colors is the victor. It is a simple game yet really fun especially since it doesn't require any complex skills. And it is a game that can be enjoyed with the family, or by the child independently. All in all, highly recommended. I also recommend the fishing game, Gator Golf and Candyland for preschoolers.

Based upon the great reviews on Amazon, I ordered this game for my 3 year old. We were pleasantly surprised with it. The characters appeal very much to younger children and of course, there are bright colors.
There is a bit of strategy to the game so my husband and I like playing it too. Your goal is to collect one of each color of bunny. You roll a die which includes a square for each of 4 colors, a multi-color square and a swap sqaure. If you roll a color, you choose the corresponding bunny, push down on it and then push on your farmer. If it is a special bunny, it will pop up off the board. You get to keep this bunny. If it doesn't pop up off the board, you are finished for your turn. The game teaches memory because you need to keep track of which bunnies are "duds" as each player picks one. The strategy comes in play when you get the swap square on the die. Now you have to decide which player you will swap with and for which color. Adults would find this the more challenging part of the game. Instructions suggest that each player place their own bunnies in the slots and remember which ones are poppers and which ones are duds. Bunnies with black springs are duds and bunnies with matching color springs are poppers. We prefer to randomly place all bunnies (without peeking). Our daughter loves playing this game over and over because everytime you play, there is a different outcome. I highly recommend this game for young children and families alike.

As the other reviews have stated, this game is enjoyable. I mean a bunny hopping right off the game board. What child isn't going to love that? It has a good educational component as the children try and remember which bunnies do not hop. Since it is the bunnies themselves that hop or not this changes every game which keeps it challenging even once they figure out this trick. The problem - this game was played three days, with an adult every playing along at all times, and already one of the farmers doesn't work. The farmer was not pounded on. The game was not dropped. What a disappointment to have yet another toy just not built well. Luckily you can press any farmer so the game is still usable, but this was an expensive game that should have lasted longer than that!

My daughter got this game for her third birthday and now not a day goes by when she does not want to play it. Aside form the actual game play she loves to sort and count the bunnies. It's even helped a lot with her patience. That in itself is HUGE! The instructions are simple so she easily teaches the game to others. Even the tricky part about swapping bunnies. It's been great for her. Those awards people know what they're talking about when they pick out these toys!

This game is perfect for the 2 ½ to 5 yrs of age. Simple to play and 2 ½ year olds can play easily. The game lets my 2 year old have her own turn and she has fun doing it. Simple but exciting game. I would highly recommend it.

I read the reviews before I purchased this game for my 3 and 4 year old nephews. I took a leap of faith that they did not already have it and that they would enjoy it! BINGO--I scored on both accounts. Their mom said the first day it arrived, the boys played it constantly, together, without her. The next morning, the 4 year old woke up and went right back to the game and was playing it alone. I have yet to see the game, but their mom said it was very cute and fun!!

Cute, easy set up. You simply roll the die whatever color it lands on you need to match to the colored bunny. Push down on the bunny and then the farmer. If your bunny "hops" it is yours. Be the first to collect one of all the colors and you win. Helps build memory skills by trying to remember which bunny does not hop. My 4 year old adores this and we all have a great time playing together.
