This product is very in expensive. I considered much more expensive units, but what I needed was a device to listen to birds that were around a 100 feet away normally. I decided to spend a lot less money and hope for the best. Well let me tell you that the Sonic Sleuth was a welcome surprise. It is built very well, its very in expensive and it is very good.
Save your money, You don't need anything better.

The Sonic Sleuth is an inexpensive item, but it can be used for more than a toy. It works nicely for listening to things in nature like birds and frogs. The gain control allows you to amplify the sound a lot, and there is a sound cut off to prevent you from getting your ears blown out.

At first I thought it would be not cool, but then once I tried it I heard what dad was whispering on the side of the big room when my brother didn't hear a word.

Pros=Very useful and works very well and I love it a lot but the cons are...

Cons=It can't focus on one conversation if two conversations are going on, but it works very well.

I got it at my aunts and uncles house and I like spy gear a lot and I have quite a bit of stuff of which I mostly don't play with even though I insist on getting more. You're not wasting your money if you buy this but there is probably a few cooler toys out there.

You need batteries and to look at the instructions but you or your kid will like it and I, only 9, almost 10, recommends that the person using it should be 10 or a little older.

I bought this for my Ghosthunting team. Not only is great for wildlife but to hear ghost, is a must. Put it together with a digital recorder and you have your evidance. Great product and I recomended to anyone who wants to hear what they can't explain. Plus this product is great for wildlife. It can even be use to find lost campers or hikers when they are lost.

I purchased this "toy" because my husband and I have a ghosthunting team. The setting control works real well, and the sound quality is amazing. We picked up things on our recorder that I dont think we would have heard before. The only thing I wasn't the fondest about, was there was interference when I tried to use headphones AND my recorder, so I couldnt listen as I recorded. That may just be greed though, or my cord might not have been long enough. All in all, it WORKS with my recorder, and is very clear, so VERY GOOD PRODUCT

Don't expect to hear what's being served on the 747 flying overhead. It does what it says it does. Just a tad on the flimsy side so don't throw it around.

My 9 year old wanted this to spy on family conversations. Little hard to use indoors. ALL sounds are picked up in the home. (ex. TV,running water,radio etc.) He is still having fun using it to magnify other noises besides conversation. We are hoping it works better outside in the summer. Goofy boy is hoping to target neighborhood deck conversations. If it works I could have fun with that too!!!

it's fun for the whole family, my kids love it, they can hear different birds outside. I can hear some of the conversations going on outside, of course you can't breath cause it picks that up while your trying hard to hear your target.

It was an inexpensive alternative to a real remote listening device. Fun to play with, but honestly, it only works if there is no noise around your target. Also loses considerable clarity when there are noises near you, even behind you. I gave it 3 stars only because I figured it would have more to offer.

MY 7 YEAR OLD LOVES THIS TOY AND I MUST SAY I HAVE USED IT A FEW TIMES TO EAVES DROP ON SWEET LITTLE CONVERSATIONS MY 3 YR OLD AND 7 YEAR OLD HAVE BEEN HAVING. IT WORKS REALLY WELL AND IS VEY FUN
