This came in a box, but the individual items were not wrapped, and some parts were scuffed up. I think it might have been a returned item. It works well enough for the price I paid, and my 5-year-old enjoys it. However, it is a little tricky to get the microscope and telescope focused. And part of the telescope broke off the first day, but we were able to fix it.
