This toy is the best toy you can give to a child who likes to experiment. You can look at directions or make up your own circuit. This toy is durable enough to withstand 2-year-olds.I recommend this for children 6 years and up.This toy does not only record; there are at least 50 projects to do.If you want this gift for a child they will love it. I don't just think this is a good toy; I know so.

After reading all the reviews, I was super excited to give this to my oldest son (8) for xmas. He wasn't excited about it upon opening it, but I thought that would change once he started using it. Wrong! He never enjoyed it, got bored and stopped playing with it very quickly. His younger brother (6) was excited to give it a try and worked on one of the projects for a long time and was disappointed with the outcome. Not the best toy! Maybe when he gets older he will appreciate it more?

Item came with some broken parts (LED mainly) and didn't seem all that durable. A new one was shipped at no cost and we tried it for a few days with a very enterprising 11 year old. Some of the info was over his head but much of the project items were not compelling enough to keep the unit.If this is your child's first exposure then it's probably fine, just don't expect a durable unit. For more entry-level, try snap kits. For more advanced, try Paralax and a bread board
