Great College Book!,

This review is from: Educational Psychology (11th Edition), Text Only (Paperback)
I bought this book for a college class and thus far have enjoyed reading it even though it is required reading. I recommend this book to anyone studying Educational Psychology. It has been a great resource and I am planning to keep this book in the long run. I recommend that you purchase EducationLab that is an accompaniment to the book. There is a great chapter on lesson planning included in the book for your reference.

Educational psychology is a field in which there has been an explosion of research (and of theories) in the past 30 years, and a matching proliferation of educational fads and products that are being marketed to school systems every day as the fix for one problem or another. Dr. Woolfolk Hoy brings order to this cacophony, highlighting the theories that seem to do the best job of explaining how students (and teachers) think and behave, and emphasizing what has actually worked in classrooms. Probably the author, in light of her prodigious experience and deserved authority, could be even more selective in what work she chooses to mention, but sorting through the stacks of journal articles is a huge endeavor, and I give Dr. W-H full marks for her conscientiousness and fairness. She does not run with the fads, but gives her critical evaluation of the research on both sides.

Well written; easy to understand if you're not a Psych major. Each chapter has a 4-5 page review section.

If your instructor requires the MyEducationLab Software, ordering this version from Amazon does not include an access code. You will have to purchase it separately.
My book was new, just no code. Boo.

I don't know about how the book is, I just received it today. This is the way my professor describes the book: The material is good but dry. It's a textbook, so it's dry. If you're up at 11 at night and you can't fall asleep, you can pull out this book and read it. (Meaning it is boring ,expect it to be so.) As far as shipping goes, I ordered it late on a sunday and it arrived in 3 days (wednesday). That was with standard shipping. The book was in the condition as described and it arrived in a big envelope with bubble wrap. I'm very happy with the delivery and purchase! Best of luck in the course everyone...book might be boring but hopefuly your professor jazzes things up a bit like mine (my favorite class!)
