3.0 out of 5 stars Really comes apart frequently and too small of squares for quality.
Too small opt for the large tiles...much better and durable than these mini ones ! I liked the colors and the thickness that wasn't too bad but super pain to put back together if they come apart.

I'm writing this review to clear up some misconceptions about this set. I read the other reviews prior to purchasing and was a little concerned, but for ~$10 w/ free shipping it was worth a shot. I have one other set of interlocking foam mats that cost alot more than this set. It has multiple pieces with the alphabets and animals all sliced into various shapes that adds to the complexity.

This set is very basic and my two year old just loves it. The interlocking square are small 5"x5" but that isn't really a negative to this set. Another reviewer mentioned the small pieces that come in this set. There are small pieces associated with this set (spaces between letters and numbers), but those can easily be set aside when you open up the set for the first time. I can't see anyone out there just tossing the package to a child and then leaving the room.

The foam is high quality and thicker than the other fancy set I have which cost more than this set. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for an inexpensive set of educational foam mats.

I brought this item so that my infant could learn how to crawl. Our floor is tile and I am not risking her hurting herself to crawl on the floor so thats why I decided to buy this. I like it so far. It is very small but for $10, you can always double up and make it bigger which is what I plan to do. Yes, there are small pieces but I can not imagine any child under a year being able to take them out. My infant is 5 months and the biggest issue I have with the mat is the smell it has when it comes out the plastic and the fact that she wants to lick it lol. Other than that, I think this is an exceptional product. I would recommended for children under 6 months. I'll update in a few months when she is actually able to take it apart and let you know how I feel then but right now, I have nothing but good things to say about it.

My grandson loves this alphabet activity. It is a convenient size for little hands. He is two and a half and loves it.

This toy is cute in my daughters room and it's very educational. It is pretty small but the description clearly states the size. I did take out the small parts of the letters so my 10 month old wouldn't choke on them. The durability is my biggest con, it's just a little cheaply made. I'm not mad about it though because it was a good price.

In December of 2010, foam puzzle mats were banned in both Belgium and France for containing a cancer causing chemical. See: [...]

In addition to the ban, Belgium is imposing a 20,000 euro fine for anyone found selling them.

The studies found that the chemical in the mats was absorbed through contact and breathing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice inexpensive puzzle mat, January 25, 2012

This is a decent puzzle mat for the price. Quality is good and does the job. Anyone looking for an inexpensive puzzle mat should take a look at this. It's not very big, so don't expect this to cover your entire floor...might have to buy a couple of these or just plunk down more money to get a bigger one!

this thing smells really bad! when i opened it, it smelt so bad that I felt sick, and had to leave it outside for the rest of the day to air it out. I then cleaned and scrubbed it extensively, and then put a fleece throw over it so my baby can't directly come in contact with it (goodness knows what kind of chemicals are still on the thing!). It's also much thinner than i expected - i don't think it will provide much cushioning if my baby was to fall while learning to stand etc. so to summarize - waste of money!

I purchased this in a hurry for my 9 month old without reading the reviews. I wish I had. My daughter managed to pull the mat apart very easily and began chewing on some of the small pieces, which are definitely a choking hazard. She even managed to bite/rip through the letter V and she only has 2 tiny teeth, so after using it once, we decided it wasn't safe and put it away. After reading the reviews about the chemicals in the mat I am going to throw this in the trash.

The puzzle was about the size I expected for $9.99 but the fact that it didn't have the whole alphabet was disappointing. Oh it had the same number of squares as in the description, it just didn't have an 'X' but had 2 'Z's. How am I supposed to play alphabet hopscotch with my daughter without the whole alphabet?
