The Edushape Magic Shapes may be of some fun if you lay them flat on a surface and create geodesigns with them. However, they aren't really "blocks" as in the three-dimensional, wood block that most people think of. They are small, flatter objects made of foam with weak magnetic "cling", and as far as making corners to build structures, they just don't do it. Our came in a plastic jar and we were somewhat shocked at the small size of the blocks for the price of [...].

My almost 3 year old son spent a day at a back up day care and when I went to pick him up, he was playing with these toys and seemed really enamored with them.
When I saw them on Amazon, I ordered some to have at home. Big mistake.
First of all, ours came in a cheap plastic jug, not the case that is shown in the picture. That didn't really matter, but is worth noting.
The toy is made of of little foam pieces with magnets on the size so you can stick them together. Unfortunately, the magnets are literally just little stickers and at least a third of them had come off. I spent a great deal of time resticking the magnets to the foam pieces only to have most of them fall off again. Since the magnets kept falling off, the toy really wasn't that fun for my son and it also was a safety concern for me as I did not want him to stick one of the magnets in his mouth.
I ultimately ended up throwing this toy out and my son never noticed.

These are like the other reviewer stated flat foam shapes, they have flat magnets on the edges. You can build them 3 or 4 or if you are good 5 levels high, but you are limited to the hieght you can go, based on the stregnth of the magnet.
With that being said, I have owned two of these sets for several years. And take them out often over the years With my 2 and 3 year olds at my day care. And the kids really enjoy playing with them. They like that the circles pop out of the square. They can build small forts on the supplied magnetic board. It will keep them busy for a half hour or so.
I think the [...] bucks is plenty of money to pay for them. I don't think I paid that much.
