Kids love it!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Edward the Emu (Paperback)
I am a school teacher and over the years I have read this book to hundreds of children of primary age. They have all loved it. The story line is amusing and the illustrations are fantastic. It is good to use with younger children and get them to predict what the next part of the story is going to be. I was very pleased to see that this book is still in print as I have had over 10 years of fun out of it already.

Edward the Emu is a delightful children's book.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Edward the Emu (Paperback)
Edward the Emu was tired of the Zoo and tired of being an emu. The book chronicles Edward's attempts at being something he is not - a seal, a lion, a snake etc. The illustrations are hilarious and the story captivates both old and young alike. This book is a perfect springboard in the classroom, and can be used as a prelude to a curriculum emphasis on positive self-image. So that all children realise that even though everyone is different, they are still a worthwhile and productive person, no matter what !

Edward the Emu wants to be everything except himself.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Edward the Emu (Paperback)
This is a delightful story about an emu who thinks being himself just isn't enough. In this book we spend several days with Edward as he tries to make himself more acceptable to others. He finally discovers that being himself is the best thing he can do. This book is a wonderful resource for teaching self-concept to young children, while at the same time offering an entertaining adventure for the older child. It is a must for all children's libraries.

Ticklishly funny,
This review is from: Edward the Emu (Paperback)
My 7 year old has come across this book in his school library and asked to have his own copy. It is also one of my favourites.
Edward is not content with being just an Emu, so he tries being every other animal in the zoo, a different one every night. The book describes the different animals in the zoo and a candidly human emu. Edward reminds me of a few people I know, and of myself sometimes, switching between cages to be something different every so often. It is a thoroughly entertaining book and the pictures are extremely funny to look at.

Meet an Emu,
By
This review is from: Edward the Emu (Paperback)
Although this book has been in print for over 20 years, its still enjoyable. The story is told in rhyme about Edward the Emu who lives in a zoo. He's not happy being an emu so he visits the other animals pretending he's one of them. The book's moral is be happy with who you are. I used this as part of my character eduation in the First Grade. The children had fun finding the rhyming words too. Nice story with a moral.

This book is absolutely darling! And funny, and fun. We LOVE Edward! The large print, the rhyming verse, and the PERFECT illustrations combine to make this one of our very favorite books, not to mention the nice little message of "being yourself". We received it as a gift, but have purchased 5 more to give to my son's friends for Christmas. Buy this book - you won't regret it.

This is a very sweet and cute book. It's well written and the illustrations are memorable. Definitely a great book for kids and adults. I can't wait to check out the book about Edwina.

Who Are You, Edward the Emu?,
By Debnance at Readerbuzz (Alvin, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Edward the Emu (Paperback)
Edward is an Emu. He's an Emu at the Zoo. And he's bored with being an Emu. (What do Emus do, anywho?) He overhears visitors at the Zoo extolling the merits of other animals and subsequently decides to become a Seal. Then a Lion. Then a Snake. And, finally, an Emu. And finds he's been replaced. Which is a bit disconcerting. Yet satisfying.

Favorite book!,

I love this book, and Edwina (the sequel). They are the only two books my son will sit still for, every time I read them to him. He loves the illustrations and the rhyming. It is a fun read.
