5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book
This book is great edition to any art history library. Wonderfully written, concise and very detailed and interesting. A true find at a valued price.

To be frank, this book is nothing special. There are a few paintings rarely seen, but overall the book is largely derivative. Berkow failed to harness the magic of Hopper's paintings in the text, resulting in a dull read with far too many `details' from paintings. Considering Hopper's utilization of tight cropping, details seem rather pointless, especially since they were magnified to the point that quality suffered significantly. Additionally, several of the works mentioned weren't even pictured. Some reproductions were even mirror images! Given such blatant mistakes, it's hard to put any amount of faith into this book.
