As you've probably noticed, there are a ton of choices for brushes. This brush right here is a great brush of high quality. I will say that as of now I have changed over to a much more expensive Rooney brush for face lathering. Was the Rooney worth the extra money? Honestly, I can't say one way or the other. I used this Edwin Jagger best brush for bowl lather and face lather with Proraso soap and it worked great. I actually just noticed that the price went up a little bit. If you want a great brush but don't want to spend a ton of money this is a great choice. Keep in mind though, that any good quality brush you purchase will last a very long time!

Ok I have just dived into this whole Wet Shaving process. First and foremost I love it, I mean I really love it! I never knew shaving could be so fun and irritation free! This badger brush may not be the best brush in the world since it's the only one I have ever used. However it feels nice on my skin, not to ruff or tough as I have heard complaints of some badger brushes being. Also it's not fully broken so I am sure it's going to get softer with use, but regardless of all that it's great. I used it with the Art of Shaving Cream also purchased here on Amazon.

Anyways even though I am still waiting on my 1969 Super Speed Gillette Double Edge Razor, I was able to get the best shave I have ever had in my life. Mind you I have never been to a barber to get a straight razor shave, just my trusty Mach III and a can of goop. But what a difference from the can of goop to the use of real lather!!! I highly recommend this brush, but that being said you also need to have a good cream or soap to lather with to get that good shave. If you want more information I recommend checking out mantic59 just google his name he has like 50 some youtube videos on double edge razor shaving, and also check out the Badger & Blade forum. A great forum for the first time beginner like myself. Good luck and happy shaving my friend!

This is my first shaving brush, so I have nothing else to compare it to, but I can tell you that it retains a lot of water and feels very good on the face. I see a lot of people complaining about various shaving brushes smelling strange...well what do you expcect? It's animal hair after all...and the smell goes away after a few uses. If you buy a shaving brush make sure you know how to use it PROPERLY...there are many tutorials out there which will give you insight on how to use a brush to create the perfect lather, etc. All in all, this brush does a good job and you should have a stand for your brush anyways so it's a convenient package.

I've had 4 brushes now and have been wet shaving for 8 years. I was concerned that this was going to be too small in my hand or too light as I had a Parker before that was significantly heavy and had a nice sized bulb on it.

This is lighter than that, but not too light. It is smaller than others I've had but not too light. The bristles are a bit stiffer than others that I've had, but I've realised that the stiffer bristles are much better for shaving soap that I use, where the softer bristles are better for the shaving cream that I used when I first started wet shaving.

Overall, great brush. A bit of advice, when shopping for brushes, don't get caught up in all the different levels of badger hair. These are marketing people at work, and while you can tell a slight difference, softer bristles aren't always better. Rather consider - do you use soap (stiffer is better) or cream (softer is better)? Do you have a more sensitive face (softer might be better) or do you enjoy the exfoliation to keep your face soft (stiffer is better). How many passes do you take - if you only take 2 or 3, you don't need a TON of all that water holding capability that people rave about, but if you are taking 5 or more passes, that might be better for you and a bigger bulb and softer bristles might be better for you.

I'm two month into the DE shaving world and started with a cheap boar brush. I perfected my lathering technique with the boar brush but kept reading there is no equivalent to badger. With this in mind i decided to purchase this middle of the road brush (best badger). The brush is relatively dense and has some backbone. If you put it on the bristle with the handle up, it is able to stand on its own. I prefer lathering directly on my face as it softens my skin and prepare the whiskers for a smooth shave.

This brush is a lather monster!!! Just keep in mind that each product requires different technique (product to water ratio) so it definitely has a learning curve, but so does every professional tool. One minor issue that you have to be ready for is the handle. It's relatively small compared to my cheap boar handle but that's not a deal breaker since it makes this brush a perfect travel companion.

If you are debating like me whether the badger brush worth the extra price over your boar bristle, ABSOLUTELY!!!

Hope this helps.

This is a great shaving brush! After using an Art of Shave brush for years, I decided to try the Edwin Jagger based on other reviews on Amazon. The brush is very well priced and gives me a greater lather and exfoliation than my other brushes ever did.
