I've found the length of the handle to be very comfortable.

Now I didn't have tons of acne as a teen or have incredibly unsmooth skin, but I do have sensitive skin that gets razor bumps easily.

Although I've been shaving for decades, I only recently got into using a double edge razor. This is the one I chose to start with, and it's worked out really well. I've tried three different blades and progressed pretty quickly. The first few days were rough, but I'm shaving now with no cuts or razor burn (that took me about ten shaves to achieve). This razor feels good in the hand, is very balanced and looks like a precise, high-quality item.

It is not the "butterfly" style in which the top opens to accept a new blade. The handle unscrews, the top separates into two parts and the blade rests between them. Some may prefer a textured handle and feel that a smooth one is subject to slipping, but this style of shaving tends to be slower and I haven't had any trouble hanging on to the handle.

If you are a relative beginner like me, rest assured that this handsome razor works and is capable of giving a fine, close shave once you find the right blade for your face.

I just bought this razor and tried it out. I read tons of reviews of different handles and blades. People kept on using the word "aggressive." Also people kept on talking about how if you weren't extra careful you would cut everything off of your face. Now I didn't have tons of acne as a teen or have incredibly unsmooth skin, but I do have sensitive skin that gets razor bumps easily. I was ready for bleeding like crazy but I ended up without even a nick on my face. The biggest thing I noticed is that the hair comes off totally with one or two strokes instead 6 or 7, resulting in less irritation to my face. All of these reviews scaring people and making it sound like shaving with a double edge is a rite of passage and gets you inducted immediately as a High Mason are blowing hot air. Oh and by the way I bought derby blades and they worked just fine.

Very surprised with this product. I can honestly say i like the feel of this over my Merkur(which isn't bad, at all). A good product at a great price. If you're a beginner this is something very much worth considering. Also, it just looks very handsome. I think i'll get one of those chingon stands to display it with my brush. Totally recommend it.

Verified Purchase
The threads either in the handle and or the head do not start easily. It takes several attempts to get proper engaement, then it threads together as it should. I hope to be able to do some machine work on the threads, although this will destroy the chrome plating causing a shorter life of the device due to rust. Quality control of the product is poor

This is really a wonderful razor as the other reviews have mentioned. The only thing I don't like about it is the "ivory color" handle. It's incredibly smooth and sometimes difficult to hold securely with wet, soapy hands.

If I were to purchase this again, I'd get a version with the same head but with a textured handle.

After years of electric shaving, I'd been getting progressively unhappy with the costs. So I decided to try wet shaving again. I started with disposables, but those "Mach 23's" cost a bundle! Researching led me to this beauty. Indeed it really is a fine instrument, not just a utilitarian tool. I've found the weight to be wonderful, build quality superb. I haven't found any problem with the handle slipping; I cradle it in my hand just to support it and let the weight of the razor do the cutting. I've found the length of the handle to be very comfortable. Rests nicely with my cupped palm supporting the end of it, and my hands are pretty big - I use extra large glove size. Have not had the head loosen at all. I've seen comments on other razors about hair sticking between the blade and the razor body - this one rinses clean with a swish in the water, so not a problem here. Very pleased and have really gotten into the wet shaving "thing," using brush and all. Then I started looking for a travel carrier. There are a couple of leather ones on Amazon, but fairly expensive and I can't find that Jagger makes any specifically for its razors, so I started thinking, what else could I use if I had to use something "generic" anyway? I hit on a cheap plastic travel soap dish. Attached some photos in case someone else might be looking for ideas. Works perfectly - it's not like a glove, but completely functional and impervious to water, and no scratching of the beautiful chrome finish. Best wishes to all.
