Editorial Reviews

This Motown superstar performs all of his hits, live in front of a crowd of over 50,000 people. All his number one hit songs are all included in these 2 concerts, from England and Germany, which was his last performance before his untimely passing. This DVD also includes his last interview to ever be recorded. I really like the delfonics and I was excited to get their live performance DVD. I received and played my DVD today. The singing was lousy. In fact, it was horrible. It was so bad until I was unable to watch the entire DVD.

As you can imagine, I was very disappointed and would like to advise everyone to SAVE YOUR MONEY. If the DVD were free, it still would not be worth watching. I truly believe I could have done a better job singing/performing with Alvin and the chipmunks as my backup singers. If I could rate this a zero I would.

This is truly a group that sounds much better on CD.

i thought with william harts age he is doing ok, we can't really expect him to hit the same notes he did back in the day but he still sounds pretty good. my problem is that the delfonics are a group, i really like to watch the choreography and on this dvd a lot of the camera is on william hart who as i know is the leader but i think their award winning dance routines are a big part of their act and should be shown also. That was my biggest problem with the 70's soul jam concert dvd too much camera time on the audience and the violin players not enough focus on the main performers especally wilberts harts delfonics and the whispers.

No words can describe this beautiful man. When God made this man he made perfection in every way. Looks, talent, showmanship, and his shear presence on this video makes it truly the best perfermance that I have ever seen. I have all his dvds, but this one, when enge was in his early fifties is a must see!!!!

Anyone who appreciates great talent and powerful vocalists with a smooth touch will love Engelbert. I am sad that i am just now discovering just how good he was. This DVD will take you back to when he was younger 1990 and you can see that his love of performing comes through. His almost perfect pitch voice makes him one of the greatest vocalists to ever live.
In a world that has thrown away greatness in exchange for mediocre less than average singers this DVD wil show you what talent really is. I sure miss the great ones but at least we have them on DVD and CD.

Technically, the Dubliners were "live in Germany", as opposed to being dead in Germany. However, if you expect to see a lot of concert footage, forget it. Maybe a bar of this song, and a few lines of that song, but certainly not a sustained continuous concert. I think there are more scenes of them drinking in German pubs than singing on stage. And even the off-stage scenes have no voice-over discussing the scene; it's just raw, home movies. Save your money.

The only thing missing is Harry Ray (RIP) Kevin Owens is good, but he isn't Harry. With that being said this DVD is worth the money I paid for it. They sing so many of my favorites it's hard to be dissapointed. Sunday, Not on the outside, Look at me I'm in love, special lady, Sex Mama, to name a few. There is also a bonus mini concert taped at a different venue. There is an interview included which was both interesting and funny. These guys haven't lost their touch. Too bad the singers of today can't sound this good.

I was very pleased with this DVD. The 2nd part at Casino Rama is my favorite. But I think this is well worth the money. And the fact that there is a companion CD available as well is great so I can listen to it in the car. There are a lot of these out there. I like this one, the Dells and The Chi-Lites. I look forward to them releasing more!

I have purchased several of "The Legends of Classic Soul Music" concerts. This Delfonics' concert, without a doubt, is the worst one I have seen. Even though William "Poogie" Hart, the original group's lead singer is featured, overall the Delfonics' performance was just plain awful. They sounded like a group of impersonators singing at a county fair or in a cheap Las Vegas casino lounge -- where you don't have to pay to watch or listen to them. I don't know where Hart found those twins, but I know he could have found better talent than those two. The twins couldn't even sing and they weren't believable singing the Delfonics' classic songs. Wilbert Hart and "The New Delfonics/Delphonics" sound a whole lot better than William Hart and the twins. Ten years ago, Wilbert Hart even had Harold "Eban" Brown singing on tour with him. Brown is now the current lead singer for "The Stylistics."

The bonus concert (four songs) was a little better. It had to be recorded at least 2 years ago, in Canada, at the Casino Rama. It featured Garfield Flemming, who has long been rumored to be a younger brother of David Ruffin, a member of the legendary "Temptations." Flemming was actually introduced by Jimmie "J.J." Walker as Garfield Ruffin. He did look and sounded a little like David Ruffin. The Delfonics on that particular night singing renditions of old Temptations classics, "My Girl" and "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)" was alright. The other two songs they sung was also featured during the first concert, but this time they sounded a lot better!
