Biography

Amongst the best-known names in the Polish music business, Edyta Górniak was discovered on a TV talent quest show back in 1989. She began her career the following year as a stage singer. Strutting her stuff at several of Warsaw's top venues, such as Metro and Brel, she quit the circuit in 1994 and crossed over into the pop industry. That same year, she flew to Dublin, Ireland, to represent Poland… Read more in Amazon's Edyta Górniak Store

4.0 out of 5 stars She has a great voice, January 19, 2000

The CD is good and yes, maybe the music is not very original but her singing is very good. I listen to this CD pretty often. At least you can hear the emotions here. Not like in the songs of Mariah or Celine. Not to mention Whitney who's so lost and desperate to make some money that it's not even funny. I would recommend it but still waiting for a GREAT one. She can do it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Album Of The Year 1997, February 10, 2005

This review is from: Edycja Specjalna (Audio CD)
This is a Polish special edition of "Edyta Gorniak" - first international album of one of the most popular artists of all-time in Poland. Her amazing voice makes her much better vocalist than Celine Dion or Mariah Carey. The album contains 13 songs from standard version + all 3 bonus tracks from its Japanese edition ("Edyta Gorniak" first was released in Japan in 1997).

It was produced by famous Christopher Neil who previously worked with Celine Dion, Cher and many more great artists. Songs were written by such legends like Billy Steinberg, Rick Nowels, Climie & Fisher, Siedah Garrett, George Merill or Shannon Rubicam. The best songs were released on singles: moving "When You Come Back To Me", dance and catchy "Anything" or "One & One" (it was a huge hit for Robert Miles who released his version before Edyta, but Edyta was the first artist who recorded this song), amazing rock ballad "Linger" or duet with Jose Carreras in power ballad "Hope For Us". And the song "Perfect Moment" was covered by Martine McCutcheon and then topped the UK singles chart.

It's a great album full of hits. I think it's the best album released in 1997. This is an excellent proof of Edyta's talent. She should conquer the whole world!

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, January 14, 2006
This review is from: Edycja Specjalna (Audio CD)
First of all, I don't understand why people have always to compare..Edyta is neither Celine Dion nor Mariah Carey..all of them are good artists, all of them are making their own music.
Edyta is not the copy of anyone: she simply realized an international pop music album. That's what she is good in, so...why not?

Coming back to the album, I think it's a very good one. There are moments of fun and dance (Anything, One and one), and Edyta's voice capture and make you move your body. There are also sweet love ballads, with very moving lyrics. My favourite songs are "That's the way I feel about you" and "Miles & Miles": they touched my heart. But this is not everything: Edyta surprises us with rocky "Linger", where she's more aggressive, and then she changes again with funky "Gone".
I think the final result is very good: going on through the album, you experience dance, pop, soul, funky, ballads..different styles, for different people. Edyta has a very special voice, and she smartly uses it the best way possibile. I strongly raccomand this album to all the people who love pop music. Give her a chance, and you'll like her.
