5.0 out of 5 stars It WORKS!
After extensive research and a painfully increasing electric bill I picked this unit. My husband and I installed this ourselves, mostly because the local installers were reluctant to perform the installation. Most houses do not have the electrical capacity to operate this unit. We are VERY happy. We have clean teenagers, 2 and 1/2 have baths, 2 high efficiency clothes...

2.0 out of 5 stars Like the unit- VERIFY YOUR SERVICE!

The unit works well. Was easily installed. Water heat is fine for our small-demand house (2bed/2bath/1500SF). The only thing that takes some getting used to is the minimum flow requirement. There's no way to get any hot water without turning a given fauct on at over 50% capacity. And single-knob showers can get a little tricky to balance...

The unit works well. Was easily installed. Water heat is fine for our small-demand house (2bed/2bath/1500SF). The only thing that takes some getting used to is the minimum flow requirement. NOTEZ BIEN:

Before installing, verify that your grid tie-in is sufficient. My panel is 200A, but the utility company tied in with a wire only capable of carrying 100A. This was fine for my house until this unit was installed. It requires 3@40A breakers, which was no problem...plenty of room on the board. But now, whenever the hot water flows, the lights throughout the house start a pulsing. I've called my retail provider, my utilities service provider, and the service director several times over the last 2 weeks, and can't get anyone to get out here and run thicker copper. It's not too annoying, but I'm concerned that the wire's going to fry if they don't get their act together and figure out whose job it is to fix this.

****Update****

Even with the electrical issues taken care of, the unit I bought, which worked well for several months, started acting up on me. Intermittent hot/lukewarm was a major issue. No flow problems: was running a shower alone. After some time, I opened the box and noticed that the unit had a leak in one of the 3 "coils" (tubes, really). I called the manufacturer, they verified the warranty info, and sent me a new unit. The new unit worked for about 6 months before it also stopped providing hot water. Not sure how I ended up with 2 dogs, but that was enough. No leaking the second time around, but I gave up and went with a regular tank, as the house was by then a rental.

I'd drop it to one star if it wasn't for the great customer service I received.

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely horrible product - stay away from it!, November 24, 2011
This review is from: Eemax EX280T2T Series Three, Whole House Electric Tankless Water Heater (Tools & Home Improvement)
Two failed units in 12 month, $1800 in installation costs. Horrible customer service from Eemax - I got a second-hand "remanufactured" replacement unit, dirty and rusty and leaking. I am filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau.

We are VERY happy. We have clean teenagers, 2 and 1/2 have baths, 2 high efficiency clothes washers and a high efficiency dishwasher. We have hotter water than what our previous tank provided. The tank is still in line but off, just in case during winter and for when the large extended family visits. The electric bill is lower. It will probably pay for itself in 6 months.

1.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware!!!!, February 1, 2012
By
This review is from: Eemax EX280T2T Series Three, Whole House Electric Tankless Water Heater (Tools & Home Improvement)
I really don't even want to give Eemax one star!! Please beware!! This is horrible. We are on our third unit, have had three different plumbers and three different electricians out to our house because Eemax always says that it's installed improperly. We had professional installation from the start. It continues to burn out elements. The last plumber was here just a week ago and we are out of hot water already. This unit does not save energy, in fact, it not only consumes more energy, it also consumes money because you have to constantly pay a plumber and an electrician to fix it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If you want a tankless water heater go with a gas one.

I Ordered an EX280T2T and got SP3512. How anyone could confuse the 2 is beyond me? The part that sucks is I am without hot water and have to wait for you to make this right. Thanks to "Global Warming" it's only 34 degrees right now...

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Product EVER, November 16, 2011
This review is from: Eemax EX280T2T Series Three, Whole House Electric Tankless Water Heater (Tools & Home Improvement)
I wish I could mark this as a negative 5 rating. We have had this heater for less than 12 months and it's failed 5 times, filled our laundry room with water and have been without hot water 13 days combined with all the failures. Called Eemax directly and received the WORST customer service I have EVER experienced in my life. Had to incur additional expenses to replace faulty units and eemax says "sorry we only cover parts in our warranty". Plumbers that came out to work on unit said they remove more of these units then installing them now. Aside from all these problems when it does work you can't even run two sinks at once and get hot water. When I explained this to eemax they said that's how tankless hot water heaters work!!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Good for the North East at all!, March 5, 2011
This review is from: Eemax EX280T2T Series Three, Whole House Electric Tankless Water Heater (Tools & Home Improvement)
We tried to do as much research as possible, bought the eemax T280T, for our 1BR condo, in the NorthEast, all electric condo. Well we got the unit our plumber came to install right off the bat he told us it was a piece of junk as it was plastic instead of copper. Next we had the electrician come rewire the entire area so it could function correctly. Electrician saind it was horrible too! Sure enough we have it up and running and 1- It was VERY loud going to the 3 heating elements clicking over to each one, our neighbors under us were getting annoyed they coulod hear everytime we had hot water on! Now as if that was not enough, we then called as the hot water was not only fluxuated but so was our pressure. The person at eemax over nighted us a new heating element told me that was the issue. (This was all in the 1st week) next we put in the new heating element and we were still having the same issue with the pressure, and fluxation. We were also told by eemax it would very easily be able to stay hot for both a shower and our dishwasher running at the same time. It did NO such thing! We were lucky if it stayed hot through one shower. So we contacted the guy we spoke to at eemax, he told us, once the unit is plugged in there were no refunds, and that he would need the unit back to run diagnostic testing in order to see if our licensed plumber messed up the unit! Finally had to contact a higher up in corporate eemax in order to get our money back! That was the only good thing! They kept their word and sent the money back! Yet we were still out the money for botht he plumber and electrician and back to a 50 gal. tank!

5.0 out of 5 stars Money Well Spent! Electric Bills Dropped $60 per Month, February 5, 2011
This review is from: Eemax EX280T2T Series Three, Whole House Electric Tankless Water Heater (Tools & Home Improvement)
We love this unit! It's saving us a fortune. There are only 2 people in our family. Heating hot water constantly when we don't use it that much was such a waste. With this unit we only heat it when we use it. We did have a professional plumbler install it. Highly recommended.
