So the question is, do you secretly hate your family and you just don't know how to tell them?

Horrible customer service from Eemax - I got a second-hand "remanufactured" replacement unit, dirty and rusty and leaking.
Svetlana
Plumbers that came out to work on unit said they remove more of these units then installing them now.

The unit works well. Was easily installed. Water heat is fine for our small-demand house (2bed/2bath/1500SF). The only thing that takes some getting used to is the minimum flow requirement. There's no way to get any hot water without turning a given fauct on at over 50% capacity. And single-knob showers can get a little tricky to balance.
NOTEZ BIEN:
Before installing, verify that your grid tie-in is sufficient. My panel is 200A, but the utility company tied in with a wire only capable of carrying 100A. This was fine for my house until this unit was installed. It requires 3@40A breakers, which was no problem...plenty of room on the board. But now, whenever the hot water flows, the lights throughout the house start a pulsing. I've called my retail provider, my utilities service provider, and the service director several times over the last 2 weeks, and can't get anyone to get out here and run thicker copper. It's not too annoying, but I'm concerned that the wire's going to fry if they don't get their act together and figure out whose job it is to fix this.
****Update****
Even with the electrical issues taken care of, the unit I bought, which worked well for several months, started acting up on me. Intermittent hot/lukewarm was a major issue. No flow problems: was running a shower alone. After some time, I opened the box and noticed that the unit had a leak in one of the 3 "coils" (tubes, really). I called the manufacturer, they verified the warranty info, and sent me a new unit. The new unit worked for about 6 months before it also stopped providing hot water. Not sure how I ended up with 2 dogs, but that was enough. No leaking the second time around, but I gave up and went with a regular tank, as the house was by then a rental.
I'd drop it to one star if it wasn't for the great customer service I received.

We bought a house that was already set up for a tankless and purchased this Eemaxx model. Three years and three units later we have finally had to bite the bullet and pay to have traditional unit installed. We even had an Eemaxx rep come to our home and verify that everything was correctly installed which it was but the bottom line is the model is just bad. We have replaced elements, fuses etc etc. The water is either scalding(if it is warm at all) or freezing if it decides not to work and it is loud. I feel like having had this experience with the heater is punishment for sins from a past life it is that bad. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY or SANITY on this product.

Two failed units in 12 month, $1800 in installation costs. Horrible customer service from Eemax - I got a second-hand "remanufactured" replacement unit, dirty and rusty and leaking. I am filing a complaint with Better Business Bureau.

After extensive research and a painfully increasing electric bill I picked this unit. My husband and I installed this ourselves, mostly because the local installers were reluctant to perform the installation. Most houses do not have the electrical capacity to operate this unit. We are VERY happy. We have clean teenagers, 2 and 1/2 have baths, 2 high efficiency clothes washers and a high efficiency dishwasher. We have hotter water than what our previous tank provided. The tank is still in line but off, just in case during winter and for when the large extended family visits. The electric bill is lower. It will probably pay for itself in 6 months.

WARNING!!!!! DO NOT PURCHASE EEMAX EX280T2T OR ANY PRODUCT FROM THIS COMPANY. IF YOU DO YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING:
1) LOTS OF MONEY.
2) LOTS OF PATIENTS.
3) NEW BATTERIES IN YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS.
4) BE SURE YOUR HOME OWNERS INSURANCE IS UP TO DATE AND MAYBE CONSIDER INCREASING COVERAGE.
5) A FAMILY THAT LIKES TO TAKE COLD SHOWERS, HAVE DIRTY DISHES AND CLOTHES.

I PURCHASED THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE SEVERAL YEARS AGO. I AM AN ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR AND AROUND THE SAME TIME I INSTALLED 3 OF THESE UNITS IN HOUSES THAT WE WERE WIRING (UNFORTUNATELY WE RECOMMENDED THEM TO OUR CUSTOMERS). I'LL STAY WITH MY OWN UNIT FOR NOW....

SINCE THEN I HAVE REPLACED 11 CIRCUIT BOARDS (THAT'S NOT A TYPE-O IT'S (11) CIRCUIT BOARDS) 9 HEATER ELEMENTS 4 TRIACS AND A SET OF WIRES. I SUPPOSE MOST PEOPLE WOULD GIVE UP BEFORE ME.

THE SET OF WIRES WAS REPLACED BECAUSE THEY BURNED UP......MELTED, SET OFF MY SMOKE DETECTORS.
ONE OF THE BOARDS MADE A LOUD POP, WITH LOTS OF SPARKS, WHILE I WAS WORKING ON IT!!!!!
THE UNIT IS INSTALLED IN MY LAUNDRY ROOM (NO WORRIES, NOTHING TO BURN IN THERE).

DID I MENTION I'M MARIED WITH 4 CHILDREN!!!(NOT GOING TO WIN FATHER OF THE YEAR ANY TIME SOON. OH, WAIT, MAYBE I'LL WIN WHEN I PUT IN A WATER HEATER THAT MAKES "HOT WATER" AND NOT "SMOKE")

YES, THEY WILL SEND YOU ELEMENTS AT NO CHARGE AND EVEN A COUPLE OF BOARDS....UNTIL THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT. THEN IT'S 70.00 PER BOARD.

THE UNIT COST AROUND $800.00, THE PLUMBER ABOUT 350.00 AND ELECTRIC WOULD COST AROUND 650.00 FOR MY INSTALLATION (MY ELECTRIC SERVICE WAS ADEQUATE TO HANDLE THE 3X40 AMP CIRCUITS AND OF COURSE I DID THE WORK MYSELF. SO THAT'S 1800.00 AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY IF THE ^#@$#*$ THING WORKED!!!
