5.0 out of 5 stars An easy-reading, fun pick., April 7, 2000
This review is from: The Eensy-Weensy Spider (Hardcover)
An easy-reading, fun pick. Mary Ann Hoberman adapts The Eensy-Weensy Spider, which takes the classic rhyme and explores what happens to the spider after the spout incident. Nadine Bernard Westcott's illustrations are hilarious.

5.0 out of 5 stars This one will be a classic in your child's library., September 13, 2005
This book is one of my sons favorites. (17 months) The illustrations are great and the authors make a cute little day-long adventure for the eensy weensy spider. The book is actually pretty long so it works well for a bedtime story. I would also suggest "The Lady with the Alligator Purse" and "Miss Mary Mack" by the same two authors. All three of these books are illustrated from a unique point of view that I think children like because they get to see things from a semi-birds view rather than their usual worms eye view.

5.0 out of 5 stars ADORABLE, February 5, 2004

(VINE VOICE)
This delightfully illustrated book contains a series of independent verses about the adventures of little pink spider with a blue hat, as she marches in a parade, hugs a baby bug, swims with a frog, buys new shoes, and such. The spider is SO DARN CUTE, it should cure any bug phobic. (If only spiders were so cute in real life). This book is a tad long, perhaps a bit too long for the youngest child. Each two-page spread contains a full verse. The first spread contains the traditional eensy-weensy spider verse; each subsequent spread contains a variation of the traditional verse. My favorite --
The eensy weensy spider fell down and scraped her knees.
"Ouch!" cried the spider. "I need some Band-Aids, please!"
"How many?" asked her mama. "I only have a few."
Said the eensy-weensy spider, "Six of them will do."
Overall, the book is delightful, a little longer & more complex than the typical board book.

5.0 out of 5 stars We LOVE this book, June 25, 2000
This review is from: The Eensy-Weensy Spider (Hardcover)
My husband bought this book for our daughter when she was 2 months old. We have been reading it together from day one. While she is only 3 1/2 months old, she clearly enjoys when I read it to her, because she keeps her attention focused on the book until I am finished, she doesn't get fussy or bored like she does with other books. I think because the illustrations are so great and because you "sing" the words. We have bought this book and given it as gifts to our little friends. It's wonderful!

The pictures are really charming, and there are lots of fun verses. This with Miss Mary Mack makes a good baby present.

Very cute story, but I was expecting this item to come with a CD, which it did not. I guess that is sold separately?

4.0 out of 5 stars Expanded classic for toddlers, December 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My 10 month old has recently become interested in sing-along books so I thought this would be one of the classics to get. However this isn't the original Itsy Bitsy Spider version. My fault, I should've paid closer attention to the description that said this is the EXPANDED VERSION of the classic song. I'll have to try this book again when my daughter is older. Right now, she can only tolerate a few words on a page at a time and she needs bright close up pictures of people or animals.

5.0 out of 5 stars My FAVORITE Board Book, March 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Both my daughter and son loved this book when they were about two to three years old. They are now four and six and don't ask for it much anymore. I buy this book as a baby shower gift a lot because I never grew tired of it even though my children asked me to read it over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Additional Verses, December 24, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Our grandchildren love this expanded version of Eensy Weensy Spider. The additional verses are cleverly written and arranged to describe activities throughout the day to bedtime and back to morning. Also includes musical notes for the piano (and probably other instruments).
