I found this book to be a great reference guide. From time to time, questions arise during Bible study or conversations that remind me just how clueless I am about early church history, and even developments over the past decades. This book has provided me with answers time after time. Furthermore, it transcends it's 'reference work' status and makes for great reading in and of itself. The average layman could likely double or triple his knowledge about some historical aspects of the church, or even modern veins of opposing philosophy, by spending an hour or so in this book. ....
