4.0 out of 5 stars STARCRUNCH LOST IN SPACE
This latest "audio mind control unit" fuses their classic surf sound without leaving behind what made "1000x" and "Made From Technetium" good. The songs are simpler than before due to the heartbreaking loss of Starcrunch on lead guitar and Dexter X on rhythm. This is a good album but it lacks the depth that Starcrunch was able to give...

2.0 out of 5 stars man or astrovan? yes astrovan!
No more starcrunch No more astromen? The poor earthling that is trying to fill our fellow spaceboy Starcrunch's space boots just cannot complete the mission.

4.0 out of 5 stars STARCRUNCH LOST IN SPACE, June 17, 1999
This review is from: Eeviac: Operational Index & Reference Guide (Audio CD)
This latest "audio mind control unit" fuses their classic surf sound without leaving behind what made "1000x" and "Made From Technetium" good. The songs are simpler than before due to the heartbreaking loss of Starcrunch on lead guitar and Dexter X on rhythm. This is a good album but it lacks the depth that Starcrunch was able to give their music and live performances and watching my videos of pre-E.E.V.I.A.C. shows only reestablishes that fact. They do explore new terrain however with "Myopia" which is a long and slow drift through space reminiscent of The Murmen. "Reversal of Polarity" is sheer brilliance along with "Engines of Difference." I've discovered that this album is best appreciated when listened to loud. This band is still the best band out there but Blazar and Trace Reading have some mighty big moon boots to fill.

5.0 out of 5 stars MoMA creates another intergallactic smash!, May 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Eeviac: Operational Index & Reference Guide (Audio CD)
Since their countless 7"'s, records, and conceptual deeds, never have MoMA re-articulated the surf/instrumental sound as their own until now. With Eeviac, The boys from space have once again fused their conceptual groundwork of the surf sound into their space sound, which has now become a springboard of new surf/instrumental exploration. Eeviac is by far their greatest effort to effectively use the style of intrumental guitar and electronic know-how to bring analog and digital into a smart aesthetic that re-contextualizes sound and music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Their Best And That's Saying A Lot!, May 26, 2002

I almost wrote these spacebilly freaks off after the directionless "Made From Technecium", but I'm glad I didn't.
Imagine the greatest instrumental band on stage with all their pagers and samplers and FAX machines going off at once and then suddenly they forgot their place in the song, so what do they do? They play the whole song backwards! Brilliant! Top that, England!

this album mixes some of their old traditional surf guitar with some of their newer electronic stuff, but somehow comes out with a completely new sound. tis good though. i like it anyway. the tracks vary in style a lot. my only complaint is the cd is over before i even realize it!

Wow. I can't remember how I ever heard of Man or Astro-man?. But all of a sudden, several days ago I was seized by an urge to listen to them. I went and picked up Eeviac and it is amazing. The perfect synthesis of instrumental guitars, electronics, and sci fi. Totally amazing

4.0 out of 5 stars Insanity Squared, September 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Eeviac: Operational Index & Reference Guide (Audio CD)
Astounding! It's a cross between Dead Kennedys, Mermen, ADD, Captin Kirk and a bottle of nitrous. This album is there most agressive and insanely structured, and yet they manage to keep everything musically cohesive. I highly advise every human to buy this album! The world would be a much better place!
