This review is from: Effective Interviewing and Interrogation Techniques (Hardcover)
I have read several books on this topic in the past. I found this book to be very interesting and easy reading. It contained excellent information applicable for anyone involved in the field of interviewing.

The book was very well organized, and answered many questions for even a trained interviewer/interrogator.

I would highly recommend it for anyone in the fields of intelligence, law enforcement, private investigations or polygraph.

A brilliant and comprehensive study of interviewing and interrogation using Criterion Based Statement Analysis, (CBSA), Scientific Content Analysis, (SCAN) and a host of body language analysis comparing various strategies and schools of study in lie detection, woven together, in a highly readable manner. It is Textbook in form, yet it reads in an easy, practical manner, with impeccable research and a balanced view that is useful for investigators, child protective workers, social workers, human resources, attorneys, therapists and counselors, as well as journalists and those responsible for hiring. It is fascinating to read, chapter by chapter, as well as a resource for future study. Each chapter represents an entire study within itself, and will lead the interested reader on further journey for understanding how deception is not only detected, but what thinking goes on within a deceptive person as well as an innocent person. There are many practical examples of questions to ask, along with the explanations of why certain questions are asked and how best to understand the answers. Reid techniques are addressed as well as the MITT technique (using sketches) along with sample interviews, all in easy to digest portions. It has a feel that the authors took the best techniques we have and pulled them together for a single textbook. A great and well researched work that leads the reader hungry for more from its authors. It is a must for those who conduct interviews in all fields.
