Make the Most of Your Volunteers, May 26, 2005
This review is from: Effective Management of Volunteer Programs (Paperback)
A practical guide for directors of volunteer programs. The author presents information about people and about how to treat them in ways that encourage growth and self-renewal. (summary by South TX Library System)
We created a position called Coordinator of Volunteers at our library. This book and others on managing volunteers really helped get this position functioning. Now we couldn't live without it. Finding and making the maximum use of great volunteers relieves the staff of many chores. Volunteers are invaluable to some projects like our summer reading program serving 1,000 children.
I used to hear staff say that volunteers are too much trouble. Not any more, but you need to know how to get the most from them.
