This book contains valuable information for managers and supervisors who evaluate their employee's performance. This book is designed to help the appraiser in selecting the right phrases and words that describe their subordinate's performance accurately. The phrases and words in this book are exceptionally positive and rephrase negative reviews with a positive outlook. It is very helpful to write meaningful performance oriented result reviews. This book can be also be used for self-evaluation and resume writing.

I recommend this book for anyone in an organization and especially it is a must have book for anyone who holds a managerial or supervisory role.

Good collection of POSITIVE phrases but book did not include phrases for negative performance. It would have been more helpful with negative performance indicators and phrases/suggestions to change to positive performance.

It is what it is, read the title. This is a compilation of "effective" phrases. They are sorted into factors employees are rated on like: 1) initiative, 2) time management, 3) accuracy.

The book would be great in writing a resume or job application where you have to write KSA's
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (like Federal job). It would be great in creating a job description or developing interview questions. It is great in assessing employees and writing letters of recommendation or creating your own cover letter. It is great for self development and keepign your own file of accomplishments you did during the year for your own performance review. Always great to have a CYA (cover your bum) file or "I done good".

It is a tool rather than a how to book.

Example: under the subject "Intiative"...phrases include
1) takes charge in the absence of detailed instruction.
2) displays ingenuity in anticipating and meeting unexpected situations.
3) extremely active and eager to try new approaches.
4) continuously finds new and better ways of performing job.
5) requires minium supervision. is a self starter.
6) is a solution seeker.
and many more.

You can add your own phrases, or way to express. It is a great thought starter.

You could use the book, to help interview job applicants.
If you are looking for someone that shows intiative, a behavioral based interview question might be:
1) Tell me a time when you showed intiative?
2) Describe a situation where you felt it was necessary or would be justifiable to break company policy or alter a standard procedure.

This book could help you identify and differentiate employees.
