This new edition allows the user to determine the pathological cause of laboratory test abnormalities; at what point in the disease course a test result can be affected; and how a test result can change over time depending on particular disease states. Following the format of the other volumes in the series, the book is divided into five sections: laboratory test index, disease keyword index, laboratory test listings, disease listings by ICD-9-CM code, and references. Each interaction entry includes the test name, the disease, and ICD-9-CM code; specimen type; direction of abnormality; and a discussion of the course, extent, and frequency of the abnormality (when available) with reference citation.
