The first section lists laboratory tests; and the second, herbs and natural products with appropriate cross-references. The third and fourth sections are alphabetic sorts by laboratory test and by herb or natural product name, respectively. Each entry describes the effect of a specific variable affecting a patient or a specimen removed from a patient, with a succinct explanation of the mechanism of the effect. The fifth and final section is a compilation of all the references, which are sorted in numerical sequence and provided to enable a more detailed understanding of the cited effects.
