This product works great. BUT make sure this is the product that you need. I ordered this for the old click wheel ipod, and it works perfectly, I can use the cord to charge and to sync the ipod (I have the new macbook so I also purchased a firewire-DP adapter)but I don't think it works with newer ipods so be sure to check. If you have an old ipod and lost the apple cables this is a great replacement. BUT if you have another ipod model I would double check to see if it will work before purchasing.

I purchased these because, after about a year, the contacts in the cables that come with the iPod stop working for synching (they're fine for charging) and I'd rather have a few extras around for synching when I need to do that. So far, these have done fine, and since I'll be keeping them in my desk for synching only (and moving the original cables to the various charge stations I have around the house) they should last a good, long time. It's nice to be able to retract them, though I can foresee some wear at the connection between plug and cable and dock plug and cable.

I ordered this to replace one that was lost in a fire. I still had the adapter from my last one that can be used to charge my iPod in a wall outlet, so I ordered this replacement cable to fit the adapter (firewire). The seller was great and my cable arrived very quickly. Unfortunately, this cable doesn't work to sync my iPod. It charges great when plugged into my computer or used with my firewire adapter in the wall outlet, but I have no means of syncing my iPod. Since charging works, I can only assume that the wire isn't completely compatible with my generation of iPod touch. Sad.

When charging, I love that this is retractable. It keeps the wires from getting kinked when I stuff it in a drawer and they're not all over the place when I'm charging it in the wall outlet. It keeps the wire nice and neat for travel. Overall, it is a good product, just not fully compatible with my iPod.

Can't tell if what vendor sent is Eforcity. Looks suspiciously like a bogus brand. But what was received is a waste of money. Doesn't work with any of my 4 iPods, from 3g Classic to Nano to iTouch.

The product description had me believing that this charger was compatible with my iPod touch 2nd generation. It's not. So I wasted $5 on this and $12 on the adapter.

I just got this charger and cable today, and they work. So I'm not commenting on the durability of the two, although the cable seems a lot sturdier than similar retractable cables that I have seen break after a year...

Anyway, I ordered from SFPLanet and not only did I get the cable listed, but they sent the Firewire car charger along with it! That saves me $7 ordering it from someone else (see my other reviews for how painful that has been!)

In conclusion: if you have an old firewire ipod, this is all you need to charge it in your car.

(Also have not tried it plugged into my computer for syncing, so no comment on that)

The kids at the Apple store haven't been alive long enough to know this product is necessary for a 3rd Gen iPod!!! They didn't know what I should do at that point! SO, It is exactly what I needed for this model which only derives enough charging power through firewire before it will charge! Retractable is cool as well, Great product for the money and great company I've purchased from before!

this product is great, it works fine and is perfect for keeping cables in order which usually tends to be an issue for me as I have the blackberry cable, ipod cable, and hard drive cable all stored in one little external hard drive case. Definitely a good product and a great substitution to the original ipod cable.

This item is a nothing but a power cord. It does not provide the functionality of the original Apple firewire cord. Your iPod will not mount on the desktop so music cannot be transferred. I have tried it with both Gen 2 & 3 iPods. You'll be disappointed.

This charger only charges, when I plug my 5G iPod in to my computer (Vista), it isn't recognized whatsoever. Another reviewer says that it works with older models, I don't have the means to test that but I suspect it might be true. And the charging is excruciatingly slow. After about 6-8 hours of charging, my battery meter was about half full.
