Egret Cove by Margaret Nava,

This review is from: Egret Cove (Paperback)
Overall, an interesting story, but the main character is not as well-developed as I would like to see. There are many typos in the book I read, a library edition published by Thorndike Chives. The typos detract from the enjoyment of reading.

I took the book "Egret Cove" with me on vacation to Florida in Jan. I loved the book! It's funny-it's witty and the characters are wonderful. Angela and her friends became my friends. The book takes place in Forida, so as I was visiting in southern Forida at the time, I was able to relate to many of the places in the book. I cannot wait for the next book to be published!

The road traveled too far,

While the writing in this book is well done, and the idea of an older character is a commendable and different approach, it would be better if the author of Egret Cove had stuck to writing travel articles and books. Creating fiction is NOT like writing reports and feature stories as many wanna-be novelists find out. The story line is flawed and forced, the characters don't come across as real people, and the facts are distorted--for example, the writer has obviously never been in a real hurricane. While a good writing group is helpful, a good editor can do ever so much more. The writer should think about getting such an editor for her forthcoming Angela books.

A Fun Book,
This review is from: Egret Cove (Paperback)
This was a fun book to write. Some people say the protagonist is my alter ego but I don't see it. Anyway, the book is about life, love, and learning to laugh in the twilight years. If you're over 55, you'll see what I mean.
