Book Description

August 1, 2008

The Orion Mystery, published in 1994, introduced the world to a highly original, and now internationally famous, star-correlation theory about the Giza pyramids in Egypt, and sent a huge shock wave of controversy throughout the scientific community, the effects of which are still felt today.

The Egypt Code not only develops this pyramid-stars correlation, but also reveals an amazing “Grand Unified Plan,” which involves the wonderful temple of Upper Egypt.

The Egypt Code is unlike any other book before it and covers the whole of Egypt’s ancient civilization in a manner never before attempted.

Much has been written as to how the Egyptians might have aligned their monuments with such high precision, but the question that has always remained unanswered is why—why did the ancients put so much emphasis on astronomical alignments? And what could be the function, practical or symbolic, behind these mysterious alignments?

Robert Bauval was born in Egypt in 1948. A construction engineer, his interest in Egyptology is longstanding, having lived in Egypt and elsewhere in the Middle East for much of his life. In the 1980s, he developed a line of study linking the pyramids and the so-called Pyramid Texts with astronomy and famously published the best-selling The Orion Mystery. He has also written three books with best-selling author Graham Hancock (The Message of the Sphinx, Talisman, and The Mars Mystery).

5.0 out of 5 stars Deciphering the "Code", September 14, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Egypt Code (Hardcover)

This book is an excellent follow-up to the author's previous THE ORION MYSTERY. I believe that he does have something here that deserves attention. Egyptologists have never been in agreement over the reason for the placement of the pyramids, their relative sizes at Giza, their orientation, etc. Bauval has provided a "unified [pyramid] field theory" to account for all of the above without forcing the issue. Even the Zoser statue, the Sphinx, and other works of "funerary" sculpture are given new meaning vis-a-vis their positioning. A must for anyone interested in this area of Antiquity. Prof. Lewis M. Greenberg

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating read that is as thoughtful as it is thought provoking, December 13, 2008
This review is from: The Egypt Code (Hardcover)
The mysteries of the tombs, pyramids, and beliefs of the Egyptians continues to spark iconoclastic theories. "The Egypt Code: A Grand Plan" is a provocatively informative book wherein author Robert Bauval presents his "grand unified theory" which shows how from earliest times beginner around 3000 BC to the closure of the Egyptian civilization with the death of Cleopatra and the dominant control of Rome in 30 BC, the pharaohs correlated what they saw in the sky to what they built on the ground. Fascinating perspectives and thoughts lending to this theory that not only did Egyptians mirror on the ground what they saw in the sky, but that the changes in the sky landscape, matches the changes on the ground, for example the size and placement of a pyramid. "The Egypt Code: A Grand Plan" presents an articulate and thought provoking set of ideas and explanations, which will bring about great discussions for some time to come. Recommended for public and Egyptology and Metaphysical Studies collections, "The Egypt Code: A Grand Plan" is a fascinating read that is as thoughtful as it is thought provoking.

4.0 out of 5 stars Complete theory for Egypt Monuments, June 5, 2009
This review is from: The Egypt Code (Hardcover)
I have been following Bauvals books for the last 10 years, there was always something missing and not complete. This books is the complete theory for the Egyptian monuments. I like the theory and everyone should read about it to understand how great the ancient Egyptians were.
