1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointing
just a regurgitation of what he has written before - looks to be just a pure money grab: a new title for an old book (the Orion Mystery, which is excellent)

This review is from: The Egypt Code (Hardcover)

This book is an excellent follow-up to the author's previous THE ORION MYSTERY. I believe that he does have something here that deserves attention. Egyptologists have never been in agreement over the reason for the placement of the pyramids, their relative sizes at Giza, their orientation, etc. Bauval has provided a "unified [pyramid] field theory" to account for all of the above without forcing the issue. Even the Zoser statue, the Sphinx, and other works of "funerary" sculpture are given new meaning vis-a-vis their positioning. A must for anyone interested in this area of Antiquity. Prof. Lewis M. 5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating read that is as thoughtful as it is thought provoking, December 13, 2008
This review is from: The Egypt Code (Hardcover)
The mysteries of the tombs, pyramids, and beliefs of the Egyptians continues to spark iconoclastic theories. "The Egypt Code: A Grand Plan" is a provocatively informative book wherein author Robert Bauval presents his "grand unified theory" which shows how from earliest times beginner around 3000 BC to the closure of the Egyptian civilization with the death of Cleopatra and the dominant control of Rome in 30 BC, the pharaohs correlated what they saw in the sky to what they built on the ground. Fascinating perspectives and thoughts lending to this theory that not only did Egyptians mirror on the ground what they saw in the sky, but that the changes in the sky landscape, matches the changes on the ground, for example the size and placement of a pyramid. "The Egypt Code: A Grand Plan" presents an articulate and thought provoking set of ideas and explanations, which will bring about great discussions for some time to come. Recommended for public and Egyptology and Metaphysical Studies collections, "The Egypt Code: A Grand Plan" is a fascinating read that is as thoughtful as it is thought provoking.

4.0 out of 5 stars Complete theory for Egypt Monuments, June 5, 2009
This review is from: The Egypt Code (Hardcover)
I have been following Bauvals books for the last 10 years, there was always something missing and not complete. This books is the complete theory for the Egyptian monuments. I like the theory and everyone should read about it to understand how great the ancient Egyptians were.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth reading explanation of Egyptian buildings, September 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Egypt Code (Hardcover)
This book is worth reading I recommend it. This book provides a well-researched explanation of many of the Egyptian building customs. The author solidifies his case for the alignment of structures using the stars as a pattern. There is still that nagging feeling that not all of the many clues in ancient Egypt have been taken into account. The book builds its case upon star alignment and written text. The book does not take into account conflicting evidence that some of the Egyptian buildings may have been built earlier. Nor does the book attempt to explain how the massive projects could have been built by ancient peoples without a technology that modern builders would have difficulty employing but just accepts that they were built.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN SPIRITUAL MESSAGE FROM ANCIENT EGYPTIANS, August 8, 2011

This review is from: The Egypt Code (Paperback)
Well, this not just a simple review, but some reflexions I want to share motivated by:

-two books by Robert Bauval: The Message of the Sphinx and the Egypt Code.
-Message from the Sphinx by Enel and
-The Urantia Book.

I've been always interested in the legacy of the ancient Egyptians, who they were, why they built such stone structures such as The Giza Pyramids.

In The message of the Sphinx, is shown clearly that "The three stars of Orions's belt have their terrestrial doubles in the form of the three Great Pyramids."

In the Egypt Code, Robert Bauval concludes: "Modesty aside, I believe that I have been able to make visible an ancient 'code' that can help Egytology to shade more light on the greatest and most spiritually enlightened civilisation the world has ever known or is likely to know again in the future."

But it's in Message from the Sphinx by Enel, where we find a clear spiritual message given to us by Moses -who was an egyptian- and through the Bible. In Bauval's books, it's clear what is written by Enel: "The twelve 'simple' present the frame in which evolves the life of the Universe and particularly of man. Thus they correspond in the macrocosmos to the twelve signs of the Zodiac,...".

But it's in the Urantia Book where is written that Jesus was born on the 21st of August, so it was from Leo, a constellation that plays a most essential part in this work by Bauval. It's in the Urantia Book too where we find a clear explanation of the origins of ancient agyptians, and therefore we understand why they were capable of such an advanced civilization that lasted 3000 years.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Text Book, May 25, 2009
This review is from: The Egypt Code (Hardcover)
An excellent text book based on a massive amount of solid research. This presents a much more plausible explanation of ancient Egyptian - and human - civilisation, than is currently taught. Having devoted a lot of research in previous writings to establish how the 3 Great Pyramids at Giza could not have been built with the technology available at the time claimed by classical Egyptologists, I was surprised at his complete reversal on page 128. But that does not detract from his conclusion that humanity needs to understand what he terms 'The Egypt Code' if we are to continue to survive on this planet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another good look at Ancient Egypt, December 20, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Egypt Code (Hardcover)
Robert Bauval is one of the more interesting authors in the field of Egyptology. He has written one of the most controversial ideas in the form of the Pyramids of Giza being aligned to Orion's Belt. The Egypt Code takes a closer look at the theory and also tries to answer critics.

Mr Bauval also starts to state a case that ancient Egyptian civilization is much older than previously believed which he brings along further in his later books. Full of pictures and diagrams, this book is quite interesting and well written. The ideas Mr Bauval presents are still controversial, but do deserve to be looked at seriously.

Again, Mr Bauval states the use of alignments and the Egyptians knowledge of the stars to show evidence for his theories. He also states the case that not only were the Pyramids aligned with the stars, but so were the other monuments of Egypt. This new idea should put some fuel on an already hot fire, but there is some evidence he sites to back up these claims.

It does puzzle me why some are downright hostile to any of these claims. Mr Bauval is not stating aliens came down and built the pyramids (he does not mention aliens at all) which one can see would make some researchers upset.

For those who did get the Orion Mystery, The Egypt Code makes for a good follow-up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bauval has done it again, October 9, 2010

This review is from: The Egypt Code (Paperback)
As a person who has a great interest in Ancient Egyptian History and Culture and also one who has read many books by many different authors, it's always very refreshing and very interesting to read material by Robert Bauval. Mr. Bauval's material is always clear, easy to understand and very well presented and you can tell that it has been greatly researched. Although much of the information that he presents concerns astronomy,he also gives an astounding amount of historical information about Ancient Egypt that I have not seen before and am delighted to have. For example, he tells us that Ancient Egypt was a Stellar Civilization before it became a Solar Civilization and shows how the important buildings were orientated toward the constilations and the Sun.
If you are one who's interested in Ancient Egptian History and culture then "The Egyptian Code" is a must read.

I'm always interested in learning new things. I'm also interested in looking at every possibility before making a decision on what to believe. Robert's book opened a lot of new questions and some answers. This is one of the most interesting books I have ever read.
