Fascinating and convincing--nothing about aliens--not mentioned,

Remember the last line from The Thing: "Watch the skies!"? That's basically what Robert Bauval is saying in this extended interview, which I found fascinating and utterly convincing. Beginning with his discovery that the three great pyramids of Egypt mirror the size and arrangement of the three stars in Orion's belt, Bauval advocates looking at ancient civilizations with an astronomer's eye to explain those civilizations' behavior. The sky is a book we don't read anymore, he claims. Along the way, Bauval demands science be scientific and not autocratic, which also seems like a modest enough idea. All the ancients looked at the sky, why not the Egyptians? Perhaps his theories can't presently be proved, but I wouldn't bet against them because they fall precisely in line with what science has discovered in my lifetime: ancient civilizations are older than once thought, ancient civilizations are more sophisticated than we once thought, what seemed like crackpot ideas are now common knowledge, the dedicated amateur often sees things the "expert" can't, and ancient civilizations were far more mobile than we once gave them credit for.

The Orion Connection,

This review is from: Egypt Exposed: The True Origins of Civilization (DVD)
The fascination for Egypt and its history has been a constant of humanity. The intention has always been to master the stories found in hieroglyphs, to learn of the dynasties that once dominated. And that intention remains even today--with theories being offered to change the common perceptions.
And, through the lectures of Robert Bauval (author and controversial figure within the archaeological world), such theories are now given to film viewers. In "Egypt Exposed" the connections of stars and pyramids are provided, with Bauval offering engaging--although not entirely convincing--evidence of the true creators of Egyptian culture. Constellations are meant to be the answer to all secrets. They don't, however, entirely fulfill their promises. The hypotheticals given here, though unique, are not supported. Viewers will find their interests piqued but their questions unsolved. This could lead to frustration for some. "Egypt Exposed" is entertaining. That cannot be denied. It is not, however, for the serious scholar. This is an exercise in conspiracies and speculation. It will intrigue but will ultimately offer no proof.

Definitely Gave Me Food For Thought,

What I liked about this film was how excited Robert Bauval is in discussing his theories that he feels are facts. He talks about how in the distant past (10,000+ years ago) were men who were geniuses just like Sir Isaac Newton or Albert Einstein, though those wise men of eons ago didn't have science as the more contemporary geniuses did/do. Instead, they expressed themselves, their beliefs, their visions and theories through archeological structures (such as the Great Pyramids), and hieroglyphs that present day science can't fully interpret.
Mr. Bauval goes into great depth exploring the links between the Orion Correlation and the pyramids, as well as many other theories about where human civilization "truly" began. True or not, it was interesting to keep an open mind while watching this film and wonder, "What if?" I do wish there were more photos to explain what he talks about so it would be easier to comprehend as I'm a very visual person.
