I love books on Egypt, but most of them if not all cover constructions (pyramids, the Sphinx, temples) together with jewelry, tombs and so on.Since my main interest is the constructions in all their strenght, this is THE book for it. Here you have nothing but palaces, temples, pyramids, deserts, riversides and of course the Sphinx featured on the cover, all gorgeously shot from the air either around 8:00 Am or near 18:00 Hrs. This makes for great aerial photography taken at the best hours of the day to enhance shape, volume and texture. This is a book on Egypt as no other you have ever seen. The publication is very well done, good paper, excellent printing. My only wish is that someday they release a full-sized (coffee table) edition.

stunning,
This review is from: Egypt (Flying High) (Hardcover)
The author makes it known in the introduction to this book that he took over 20,000 photographs of Egypt from hot air balloons, planes, and helicopters for this book; his care, discrimination and outstanding sensitivity in selecting the hundreds that make up this collection are clear. Any book of photos of Egypt will naturally focus on the monumental structures of Egypt's past, and this book does cover them right up front, and lovingly so; but there is more to the country, including the wide swathes of desert, the Nile Delta, the cities and the Red Sea and Mediterranean coasts, and as such this book does touch on pretty much all of Egypt's fantastic geography. Further, the author's 'angle' of shooting everything from the air, an unconventional but in this case highly effective approach, lend this beautiful collection tremendous appeal. The work is presented entirely on high quality glossy paper, well bound, and would be a welcome gift or reference for anyone interested in Egypt.

A Great Book!,
This review is from: Egypt (Flying High) (Hardcover)
Wonderful book!Overhead views of oasis's, temples, farmlands, coast, the Nile, cities, lakes etc. When I want to "go" to Egypt, I can look at the pictures, locate where I have been, & search areas I have not been-- areas not shown in any publication that I've come across. You feel like you are "there". Quality photographs printed on high res glossy paper. A "keeper". |
