About the Author
Herve Champollion is a photographer who has published several books on Sicily, Greece, Scotland, Ireland, Jerusalem, Yemen, and Egypt. He is the great-grandnephew of Jean-Francois Champollion, the father of modern Egyptology. Diane Sarofim Harle heads the department of Egyptian antiquities at the Louvre Museum in Paris. She has published numerous studies on Egypt, notably L'Egypte de Jean-Francois Champollion, with Herve Champollion.

This beautiful volume of elegant photography can be viewed on several levels; a book of art, a fresh exploration into a society that continues to amaze, or - importantly - a tribute to perhaps the cornerstone to the cradle of civilization. A fantastic book which will need a coffee table of its own for years to come.

My mother had just come back from a trip to Egypt and had such a great time, so we wanted to give her something she could remember her trip by. The book is beautiful and really a nice book to look at... even if you haven't been to Egypt. Photography is beautiful. Highly recommend this book if you need a nice gift for someone who is an Egypt buff.
