5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Time Saver!!
I have a full wooden top for my 55 gallon aquarium that we keep picture frames on top of. As a result, it is a pain to take the frames off, lift up the cover and feed my fish. There were many days I was too lazy.

I got this unit about 5 months ago and am thrilled. It holds about a 3 week supply of cichild pellets and dispenses them perfectly...

2.0 out of 5 stars Works great for a year then corrodes and dies
I bought this fish feeder just over a year ago for my fresh water fish tank. It was easy to set up and worked great until recently. Without warning, the unit began only turning 1/3 to 1/2 revolutions instead of an entire revolution...the result was that while I was away it only fed my fish once every few days even though I had it set to feed them twice a day. (it also had fresh batteries in it before I left). Being an Engineer, I took a look inside and found that the internal relay contact had gotten corroded. I sprayed WD-40 in it and it worked fine for another few weeks. Then it stop working entirely. This time, the battery contacts had corroded. The unit is not sealed against water moisture and the internal metals are corrosion prone. If it gave a warning that it was no longer working, I would have had the opportunity to buy another unit to keep the food flowing...as it was, it failed without warning, and a few of my fish died. :(

I got this unit about 5 months ago and am thrilled. It holds about a 3 week supply of cichild pellets and dispenses them perfectly.

If the unit breaks down and the fish starve then it's user error. Even though I don't physically feed my fish, I still go to the tank at feeding time to observe them.

On a similar life saving tool, get yourself a python gravel cleaner to clean your tank and do water changes. Both these units have GREATLY improved my love of the hobby!
